And then you have a player like Stempniak who was tearing it up the first quarter of the season for the Blues, plays like shit for a year and a half in Toronto, then tears it up for the last quarter of the season with the Coyotes. Stemps is the anti-Kaberle.

Ya, even in Boston he didn't play his game. He was always a great Leaf (5th on the all-time assists list). And ya alpastewart, you raise a great point, its funny how Leafs fans (some*) can turn their backs on a player who played a decade and a half in their organization. Some Leafs fans are heartless.

I'll always remember the shot Kaberle took in OT against the Penguins, 2nd round of the playoffs in '99 that squeeked through and sat on the line before Berezin tapped it in. Or the OT winner against Florida in '06 during the Leafs magical run that fell a point short of the playoffs (Sundin's 6 point night). Or in 2002 when Kaberle fired a seeing eye shot that went through 9 pairs of legs before squeeking out to Sundin who banged it home with 18 seconds left to stave off elimination in the conference finals.

So many great years as a Leaf. I would welcome him back if there were no salary cap, but it just doesn't make sense. Maybe as the year goes on if we could move a d-man for a forward, then I wouldn't mind moving a lesser forward for Kaberle, if the 'Canes are intent on dealing him for a "lesser" return.

haha yeah every team would love to go after Eric Staal. I wonder what he would cost the Leafs if Carolina was looking to move him. We probably would have the best chance to get him.

The first round pick in question did not become JVR. It was when Philadelphia was in the 2007-2008 playoff race. So the pick would have been in 2008 which PHI used to select Luca Sbisa. (which if the trade happens there is no guarantee that the pick would end up being 19th overall and no guarantee Luca Sbisa would have been selected there)

White's been great in Detroit so far. But then again, I think I'd be great playing with lidstrom.

I love white on the leafs and I bet you wings fans are saying the same thing now. You see him block a shot with his face to keep the lead the other night? What a beauty. Fantastic mustache as well.

That's interesting. Probably fair value swap. Not sure carolina needs a center though but maybe they can swap Ganger to the wing. McBain would be interesting for Edmonton but I'm not sure it would be what they are looking for either. Not a perfect fit anyways.

He just was better as a Leaf. Sort of seems to be a trend with some players. Stajan, Hagman, White. But yeah I'm with you now. I still say he was better as a Leaf than you let on but he just fell off the earth afterwards.

And yeah I'd go after Staal. Big price but screw it, I'd love him. Best thing is he works with scorers to so he would probably fit well with Kessel. Really well.
