Injuries, injuries, and more injuries!

All of the following is from

Florida Panthers General Manager Rick Dudley announced today that that defenceman Jay Bouwmeester would miss between two and six weeks with a fractured foot. The Panthers have recalled defenceman Lukas Krajicek from San Antonio (AHL) to help out on the blueline. Mean while….Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Eric Desjardins will require surgery on a broken right forearm and is expected to be sidelined approximately eight weeks, the team announced Sunday. Desjardins suffered the injury in Saturday’s 4-0 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on an inadvertent body check from teammate Jeremy Roenick. Also, it get worse for the Coyotes as defenceman David Tanabe will be sidelined for at least three months after tearing a knee ligament and left-winger Tyson Nash will be out of the lineup for at least a week after spraining a knee.
Bouwmeester’s injury was evident on Tuesday night here in Edmonton. It was to be his first game in his hometown in the NHL, and it was clear he was hurt as he had a horrific game. The injury occurred last Sunday in Vancouver.

In Desjardins situation, JR LAID HIM OUT! That was a very physical first period in Toronto last night(which the Leafs deserved a better fate). Roenick intended to hit Leafs captain Mats Sundin, but caught Eric instead. This will be a big blow to Philly’s d in my mind. Even though he isn’t the defenseman he once was, he still is the veteran stabilizer on that blueline.

As for the Yotes, they haven’t been playing there best hockey lately(haven’t won in 4/since the shutout streak), and now they’ve lost there best offensive defenseman in Tannabe, and a major pest in Tyson Nash. I expect this to MAYBE put a little more pressure on Mike Barnett to deal Burke for a d-man.
