Is Julien Going to Boston?

After numerous reports came out yesterday confirming that Claude Julien, the ex-Devils coach, was hired as the bench boss of the Bruins, the organization has remained silent. Could the silence mean that Chiarelli is still considering other candidates? Could Mike Milbury still find himself behind the Bruins’ bench for a second tour?

Here’s a story about Milbury’s potential hiring:

Despite several reports of Julien being hired, Chiarelli and the entire Bruins organization have remained extremely silent. They have stated that there are no announcements to make. Of course, this could be due to finalization of Julien’s contract. However, Chiarelli has other candidates in mind who might still be in the mix, namely Mike Milbury. Reports stated that Milbury might have been closing in on a deal before the Julien chatter took over.

After all, wouldn’t Milbury be a better choice for what the Bruins are trying to accomplish? They are trying to better utilize their quickness in the offensive zone while playing better team defense. Although Julien learned the ways of the “trap” in New Jersey, the Bruins do not have the goaltending to be a shutdown defensive team. Instead, the new coach needs to be able to get the most out of ALL his players (including Chara and Bergeron). Who better than the passionate Milbury to get the underachieving Bruins to reach their potential?

Oh, yeah. He was also the last Bruins coach to reach the Stanley Cup Finals.

Who would you rather take for a team with struggling confidence — Julien or Milbury?
