Islanders Fall into Hot Seat with Boston

The Rangers, Tampa Bay, Boston, and the Islanders……. One of these teams will miss the playoff’s…..

NHL experts say that if the Rangers can hold off this weekend…. By Tuesday…. We could know who makes the playoff’s

(And Yes, Ranger Bashers, we know, we know…. The Rangers won’t make the playoff’s…. Whatever) This Article is for the real Hockey sensed fan’s of HTRWith Montreal, and Florida just in the shadow’s of a playoff birth … the 4 teams that have the best chance are The Rangers, Tampa Bay, Boston, and the Islanders. BUT, there is 4 teams and 3 spot’s…. So who will be in….. who will be out?

An NHL Expert says that by the end of Tuesday The Islanders and Boston will have no more games in hand on the Rangers…. And if they can stay only 4 points behind, the Rangers will Get in. People also have to remember. The Rangers play Boston once and the Islanders 2 times. So those games are 4 point and 8 point games.

The Islanders loosing to Boston not only hurt the Rangers but hurt the Islanders themselves. Now The Islanders are right at the bottom…..

Tampa Bay Is holding a strong amount of points on the playoff’s and most, think they will be in. Tampa has played well as of late and they even have a chance to move up to the 3rd seat if they can bring down Washington.

Experts also say that the Rangers can only lose 3 at the most. If the Rangers can do that or better, No one can say that they won’t be one of the hottest teams going into the playoff’s.

Boston is turning it on….. But with a hard Lineup coming to them … they could find themselves out of a spot, that they had without worry a month ago.

The Rangers Can pull themselves back in….. and for the first time in a while… I really do believe this team could make it. This could be maybe there best chance in 4-5 years of getting in. The injury’s have come back to them…. and with some Luck…. They could grab the last spot. But the Smartest comment I heard all day was that if they can stay 4 point’s back by Tuesday. They are right there in the hunt…. Because they play Boston, the Islanders, and the Rangers have to win.

The Rangers will not make the playoffs.

I think they will cluch and grab for it. But in the end time and essence will run out….

  2. mikster says:

It’s great to see the Rangers have chemistry, but it’s too little too late and it is a shame that they didn’t get the best of chances throughout the season to find this chemistry.

I doubt the Rangers will playoffs, but I will stick with what Holik said. I too don’t go by how many times the Rangers have to win, because those are all iffy numbers and guesses. It depends on how the Islanders and Boston Bruins play. If the Bruins/Isles lose 3 straight games, and the Rangesr win 2 games with one tie, then that changes everything, that changes those “how many games the Rangesr have to win” ideas.

The best hope for the Rangers is to keep winning, and for either Boston or the Islanders that they keep losing points. That’s it…no numbers no guesses…that’s basically it.

If they pull a New York Jets miracle, then they prove that they are a good team, and Sather makes himself look like a genius (a darn lucky one) since his owner, and he, promised a playoff birth.

This is when i look back and get pissed off at the fact that the Rangers lost to the Thrashers twice….and Buffalo. Those are games that any team should win, they are easy points. Just those wins against the Thrashers, and the Rangers would have been tied with the Isle’s and Bruins.

Even though im not a fan of the NYR i wouldnt be at all suprised to see the Rangers in the playoffs.

They have the tools to do it and if the way their playing lately is any indication i do believe they will be in the playoffs come April. Now this is where it gets interesting though. The Rangers because they arent a typical team will be a very hard series for any team that plays them in the playoffs. they have an abundance of talent at every position except maybe in goal but who knows Mike Dunham is more than capable of turning it up for a playoff run. Id love to see the Rangers get in as the 8th seed and beat Ottawa.

To get a real good example of this Rangers team…See last years Oilers….

  6. TrojanMan says:

Now that they have kovy i actually want them to make it. Only chance ill get to see him play aside from the Pittsburgh and ESPN/ABC games. Its going to be a fight between the Isles and Rangers, should be good.

  7. TrojanMan says:

forgot to throw montreal in the mix. of the three bottom seed teams so far, the isles are the worst in my opinion.

  9. Aetherial says:

Naw, I think the Rangers will fall just short and the Islanders will creep in.

Also Ottawa will face the Islanders first round…

SWEET! Let the Islanders beat up some team besides the Leafs this year… that 7-game series HURT the Leafs big time.

  10. PresidentQuinn says:

Yeah it hurt them so much they went on to beat Ottawa and take Carolina to 4 consecutive overtimes. If that’s hurt..then I hope the Leafs get hurt again.

That 7 game series hurt the Islanders….remember, they lost.

  11. Pokecheck89 says:

even if the rangers made the playoffs, no one will think that sather is a genius, all he did was buy everyone in sight

  12. Tony says:

Rangers will make the playoffs this year. Nashville come very close too and might actually make it as well.

  13. mikster says:

I wish it will happen. For the good of New York City and its citizens too….they need to up morale in there.

  14. Tony says:

I agree totally with your Eastern Conference predictions but not with the West. The West I think will look like this:

    1)Detroit

    2)Colorado

    3)Dallas

    4)Vancouver

    5)St.Louis

    6)Minnesota

    7)Edmonton

    8)Nashville

So I pretty much agree with who makes it with you, just not the order.

  15. mikster says:

He landed players via trade without giving up much youth at all, and he signed key free agents that the Rangers needed. His only two big name free agent acquisitions were Holik and Kaspar.

  16. Leaf_Expert says:

To get a real good example of this Rangers team…See last years Oilers….

  17. common_sense_kills says:

I have to agree. Even if they scratch their way into the last spot they have the roster to acheive much more. If things went according to rosters they should be fighting for home ice. That is what is so great about our league, anyone on any given night can pull out the win. It is all about chemistry and heart.

  18. Pock says:

I don’t think alot of people realize how much that comment you made about how the isles hurt the leafs is true. Theres no doubt that if that series had been done in 5 maybe 6 the leafs would have represented the east last year. The east is alot more physical then the west, thats why the leafs improved even further on grit by picking up Nolan. I may not be a leaf fan, but they have as good a shot as anyone in the east, maybe even greater. I’ll still pull for my devils though, wouldnt hurt my feelings though if the leafs went to the finals, they could put up a good fight offensively, there defense still lacks though.

  19. Pock says:

I like the fact that you have the devils as #1, but as a fan i don’t think so. They have alot of tough games against teams trying to get in. I think they can hold off the flyers only because I don’t believe they will finish as strongly as in years past.

I might even put Wahington as far down as 8th, teams are playing playoff hockey now, in the east they play the body, the caps will fall there.

I like your west picks, but i still think Anaheim will get in. If the rangers do get in, they might be able to take Ottawa, maybe. Best of luck ranger fans.

  20. Pock says:

Sather may not be a genius, but don’t undermind what hes done… hes managed to hold onto alot of his younger players, while at the same time still build a great team there. You don’t have to like him, but give credit were its due.

Just for the record, i’m anything but a ranger fan.

    Go Devils Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. aaron says:

Hehe, don’t you just hate that? When you got a team on the edge of the playoffs, and you look back, and they lost to a total sh*t team that’s keeping them out?

I can relate; in college hockey, my team has a loss to the bottom two teams in our conference, who have won a combined I think 5 games all season (throwing out their head to head games). Throw those horrible losses out, and we’re probably in. *shakes head* What makes it worse is both were basically entirely b/c of our backup goaltender sucking.

  22. mikster says:

They’re playing with chemistry and heart now, after almost went 90% of the season with key injuries.

  23. aaron says:

Haha, even I’m not that much of a homer. Wings are going to finish 3rd man, 2nd at the highest. :p And Anaheim dropping out? I don’t see that one either. They’ve got a seven point lead on Nashville, and a four point lead on Edmonton. Granted, they’ve played a few more games, but I still think they’ll hang on for a playoff spot.

  24. aaron says:

Let’s not forget that for most of the season, they didn’t have Holik, Bure, Poti, Leetch, Richter, Kovalev, Mironov, or Malakhov actually playing. That’s most of their roster down w/ injury. Only big name they had playing all season was Lindros.

  25. MossRocks says:

What does that mean? The Oilers started hot, had few injuries and ran together several winning and losing streaks. This Rangers team has just been mediocre all year and has missed several key performers. The only similarity is that they both chased spots late in the year and obviously, there are two ninth place teams every year.

  26. MossRocks says:

Actually they’ve only got two on the Oilers and the Oilers have a game in hand.

  27. mikster says:

Not an excuse, but they are reasons. Could you think of any team that would play well over .500 withouth those key players? Best checking forward, best scorer, Poti didn’t miss much, but best offesnive d-man (Leetch), top goalie, Malakhov is a good solid 2-way d-man, Lefebvre was also out…

Their line up used to be, even with Holik….

    Barnaby-Holik-Lindros

    Petrovicky-Nedved-Dvorak

    Samuelsson-Messier-McCarthy

    Dywer-Donato-Fata

    Poti-Bouchard

    Purinton-Malakhov

    Kaspar-Cross

    Blackburn-Holmqvist

    I mean….that’s tough.

  28. Leaf_Expert says:

I didn’t say look at them for season simularities…I’m saying look how the Oilers scratched and clawed for the platoffs, but it was too late…And thats what the story will be for the rangers this year…

  29. beckfan says:

The Islanders are so hurtin right now it doesnt look like their going to make it. No ones scoring, the D is hurt even though that goony fuck Cairns is supposed to play tonight and their schedule is tough. I think that if they dont win tonight and the Rangers win on Monday, things will look totally different than did a week+ ago.

  30. BabyLeaf says:

I think the Rangers will make the playoffs this year, just barely though.

  31. mikster says:

    You betta think that way!!!!

  32. matrix2003 says:

I say it too, like many others, Rangers won’t get in.

  33. BabyLeaf says:

Are you threatening me??? Well just for that I think those Bruins with there ugly winnie the pooh jerseys will get in before the Rangers!! 😛

  34. nskerr says:

Right now the Isles are starting to slump at the worst time. A tough game against NJ before hitting the road for 6 straight. The game against NJ will be huge. If the Isles can go back up by 5 or 6 after tonight with 2 in hand, I like their chances. If they lose however, the Rangers might sneak in.

Tampa I think will be in either way because they will either catch Washington or because they already are up by 6 points.

    Montreal is out.

Boston is winning again and has moved 6 points ahaead of the NYR with 2 games in hand.

The Rangers problem is that they will need to win probably 8 out of 12 to have a shot. They have been playing well lately but to continue that for several more weeks and hope the Isles will lose their games in hand and collapse is asking a lot. However it is possible.

I think tampa gets the 3 seed. Washington the 6. Boston the 7 and the Isles hang on to 8th over the Rangers by a point.

  35. keon says:

The reason I have NJ in 1st is because I think the Sens will have a small slide towards the end of the season. They’re getting banged up, and tired.

  36. mikster says:

moi threaten? never! just making sure you think the right way! hehe

  37. bruinfan37 says:

I really don’t think its too far fetched that the B’s could catch the Leafs. They are only 6 points back after the OT win 2day vs Washington. They have a huge game against them coming up, and its entirely possible they could catch them…

  38. NHL_expert says:

there isnt a shot in hell the Rangers will only lose 3 games to finish the season, the simply dont have a good enough defense to do that, besides even if they got in, the sens would rip them appart, so who cares

  39. Sands says:

any thing can happen in the playoff’s. Caralina to the finals last year. But Ottawa is very good and should go all the way this year.
