The Fourth Period is reporting that the Islanders are looking to deal Mike Comrie.

Comrie who earns 4 million dollars per year is in the final year of his contract and it is reported that he has not worked out on the Island. It is also mentioned that the Islanders have apparently been trying to move Comrie since the beginning of the season. HTR believes that it will be a tough sell for the islanders to move Comrie due to his large contact and his lackluster play.

Comrie will be a consolation prize to whoever strikes out at the trade deadline.

He played an important role in the Senators drive to the final and will be able to provide the same spark to a team's 2nd/3rd line.

    To Toronto      Comrie
To Islanders    Blake and a 3rd pic or a prospect

    Contracts 4 mill
Blake played better for the islanders
Comrie is in the final year of his contract

    Tucker gone
    raycroft gone

Wow that would be a dream come true.. one problem…the reason he had good numbers on the Island was cause of Yashin who of course is no longer there.

  4. Kramer says:

Obama should apply as the next NHL commissioner after he's finished his Washington gig.

so let's revise the idea then:

    To Toronto:
    Mike Comrie
    (whatever)

    To Colubmus:
    Carlo Colaiacovo
    (potential powerplay d-man)
    New York's 3rd round pick

    To New York Islanders:
    Mike Peca
    Jason Blake
    (chemistry)

First thing that came to my mind while reading the article as well. Blake could help securing a first overall selection for the Ilses. The problem is that Garth Snow isn't dumb enough to make this trade.

  7. mojo19 says:

Lets just keep Blake and lure Yashin over from Russia. haha

  8. Kosty says:

Comrie is not the answer to anyteam! whoever has him is going to wish they did not. He can only perform when he's placed with great players and if that is an answer to a teams problem shame on them! Good 3rd line player and capable of filling in the secend for injuries but risky in my opinion.

  9. mojo19 says:

They'll probably eat most of his contract and deal him at the deadline for a 2nd rounder or something depending on his production. A few teams will want him at that point.

Makes sense for both team.Comrie would be better in Toronto.
Off topic but i dont get the rumors about the leafs looking to trade
Stajan. He's one of their best players and is young which is what you need when rebuilding.I also like Schenn.I like this new Toronto team, they play with heart….my team lacks it  since last year(sens)

  11. BlueOrangeWhite says:

iSLES SHOULD PACKAGE UP COMRIE, JEFF TAMBELLI (WAS A TOP AHL SNIPER BUT CAN'T SEEM TO SCORE IN THE NHL), AND A DEFENSEMEN FOR AN ELITE SNIPER – POSSIBLY EVEN GABORIK.

EVEN IF IT TOOK THROWING IN CHRIS CAMPOLI AS THE DEFENSEMEN IN THAT PACKAGE…I WOULD DO THE DEAL.
