The Islanders have picked up their play of late with the return of Michael Peca and turnaround of Chris Osgood with help from an incredible penalty killing unit which has moved from 25th in the league to 11th.

The Islanders had set a goal to reach .500 by the New Year and start fresh. They accomplished that goal by winning their last 4 games. The Isles start the New Year off with a home game against Boston. “One of the biggest mistakes we can make now is to take a breath and take a step backwards,” he said. “We’re finally back to square one and where we want to be. But now we have to keep our heads above water.
