That’s why I said, NOT few and far between.

Yes Jagr has had guys like Mario and Stevens as linemates during the second cup run, and then francis and nedved till Kovalev came along. at that point it was francis and barnes till francis wasnt re-signed and barnes was traded to buffalo for Barnaby.

It was arount this time that Titov was brought in to be Jagrs center because straka kovalev and lang had clicked and that line would not be broken up exept for the rare injury (the most games any of those three would miss between 98-99 and 00-01 was straka missing 9 games in 99-00 season). Titov did not work out but Hrdna and Jagr clicked and Hrdina would remain Jagrs main center till Mario came back close to three years later.

During this time Miller spent close to two seasons as the left wing on that line, with guys like josef beranek being slotted in there after miller was traded to the ducks and before he was brought back 20 or so game into the following season.

Trust me, this is one thing that I would be willing to say I know for sure. Hrdina and Jagr were linemates for about 4 seasons, he even playing left wing on the line with mario up to right before Jagr was traded. Miller spend about two years on Jagrs left wing in pittsburgh and portions of anouther year or so on his wing in washington.

Dont say you guys. I’m noot a redwings fan. I do watch them to see Cujo play because Ive been a fan since his st.louis days I try to follow his career. But I’m not a wings fan.

The only thing to say about the euro comment is, your right they did get pushed around alot. But Lang doesnt play like a sterotypical euro center. hes got a big fame, isnt afraid to go not traffic, and can take alot of abuse. he plays a pretty physical game for a skilled euro.

  4. MantaRay says:

It is the lack of talent at center, non of the centers you mentioned have the set up skills to make Ranger winger the great scoring machines that they SHOULD be.

Nedved is a third line player, Messier is too old, Holik is defensive, Lindros is more of a power forward then a set up guy. Lundmark will never play the quality minutes he would get from other teams, while Sather is GM.

These arent salary dunps? Dude common?!

  6. Bishop7979 says:

Your right Lemieux was jagrs center that year he came back, his left wings were stevens and hrdina. I’m not talking about mario and jagr, i’m talking about Lang and who was on his line and how jagr hasnt done anything to really make lang a better player.

so there you go, yet anouther season where lang wasnt playing with jagr

Here’s what I think should happen though:

    Rucinsky-Holik-Kovalev

    Nedved-Lindros-Jagr

    Simon-Messier-Barnaby

    Ortmayer-Rheaume-Lacouture

First off, last night against Ottawa showed a real problem… the Lindros line got 12 minutes (though Lindros himself got sixteen), and Jagr and Nedved got over twenty each. So the Rangers’ only line that didn’t have a negative plus/minus still doesn’t get rewarded. I understand that they were -1 until the late third period goal by Barnaby, but still, what message is Sather sending when he isn’t rewarding good play? And even not benching Kovalev after the bonehead unsportsmanlike penalty?

    Accountability my ass.

    your right about sather…

the holik line should stay the same, im starting to think the rangers should send down ortmeyer, he hasnt been playing well of late. and mainly because lundmark could return tomorrow.

And i would love to see lindros and jagr on the same line. But then again, i think sather is a jackass. he has done one hell of a job being this teams gm, but his next move should be stepping down from the coaching duties.

i would really like to see keenan come in, but i mainly just dont want sather to be behind the bench. tom renney would be a better head coach.

i just dont want to see sather behind the bench anymore.

  12. IrishRinkrat says:

    You have it totally backwards.

The Rangers centers are very good, but they’re thin on the wing. That and the entire team flunks in chemistry… they can’t get any flow.

You’re right though, defense should be a top priority, regardless of an over-the-hill former Ross winner being acquirable.

  13. IrishRinkrat says:

Frankly at this point right now, Tom Renney makes more sense than Keenan. Renney knows the personnel better and will set forth a more defensive set… what the Rangers need to play as an aggressive style of the trap, cause turnovers so their forwards can use their size or speed (whichever the strength) to get the puck deep. Renney would do that and so would Keenan, but Keenan, as much as I want him back, is not a mid-season fixer… he needs to be there from training camp.

Bure, WAYYYYYYYYYY too late. We were down and other teams had games in hand. He came the day before the deadline. At least this move can help us a little more.

im talking about 13 million for just holik and kasparaitis, another, what, 4 mil for devries?

my point is that over the years they have been buying their talent and once they cant do that anymore theyre screwed.

dont give me bs about their prospects, theyll all be decent players, but not stars

  16. the_expert_44 says:

yea, and were making the playoffs
