I agree, although I think Markov should be an assistant.
Lapierre would probably be a good captain, but I would give him the other "A" for now, and maybe give the "C" to…hmmm…to…geez, rotation ?
pens should try and nab a guy like maclaren. big, tough, can play steady D. only in the minors for cap issues. they have goligoski ready. they should be ok.
they'll fill their need later at the trade deadline methinks.
WTH! How is Bergeron not gone, or got no attention, crazyness if you ask me… No a big guy, but can put up some serious points…
Alexei Ponikarovsky – Mikhail Grabovski – Nikolai Kulemin
Jason Blake – Matt Stajan – Jiri Tlusty
Niklas Hagman – John Mitchell – Lee Stempniak
Viktor Stalberg – Jamal Mayers – Colton Orr
—————————————————————-
Colin Stuart, Tyler Bozak, Christian Hanson
Tomas Kaberle – Mike Komisarek
Mike Van Ryn – Luke Schenn
Ian White – Garnet Exelby
————————————-
Jeff Finger, Jonas Frogren, Anton Stralman, Phil Oreskovic
Vesa Toskala
Jonas Gustavsson
———————–
Justin Pogge
Brian Burke's next move should be to acquire a top six forward in exchange for one of the Leafs defensemen.
goc also played for wilson in sj. good pk guy.
Yup, Goligoski will be intense! I really think he will put up some serious points, Imagine him and Gonchar.
I like the Leafs moves. They're conservative and ideal for rebuilding. Komisarek and Exelby will add big time toughness to the blue line, although the Leafs will now get less offense from the defense with Kubina gone (and maybe Kaberle too?). Colton Orr is a great fighter and apparently he can check as well.
Looking at the big picture, the Leafs are well positioned below the cap and will probably be in the running for another top 5 pick in next year's draft. It might be then time to make a move for a superstar like Rick Nash.
Looks like Havlat will be in Minny, they have a verbal agreement, but it isn't official yet.
Like that guy who laughed at Komisarek being a first team all star when in reality he's great second pairing physical defenseman while also clearly stating that he wanted the Leafs to make a priority either sign him Beauchamin.
This crush you have on me is embarrassing.
Now police my typos hack.
6 years/30million for Havlat, I would have preferred him over Cammalari, especially at that deal.
Given our taxes situation, Havlat probably would've asked a lot more from Montreal. I would've taken him instead of Gionta though.
Havlat's move to the Wild is confirmed. Dunno why it took so long, terms were 6years 5 per.
Also not sure why there's nothing publically listed for Heatley yet…
he's overpaid by 400K, but he's a fan favorite, a great friend of Fisher, Phillips and such, and is a player that lives in Ottawa year round. He's a great guy, rather have him on my team than not – and he's not super overpaid, only slighty in the grand scheme of things, may not have a no-trade as well, so can deal him if things stay shitty in Ottawa.
With Kaberle's future uncertain, Starlman becomes untouchable.
leafs won? how the ***** did the leafs win/ you have big slow pylons! who's going to score for you?

Or Kovelchuk, Luongo (Nonis connection), Marleau, Pronger (Burke's loyal), Nabokov, Hiller, Savard, Semin (RFA might become to expensive for Washington, possible trade), Boogard.
I'm saying Savard, Kovelchuk, Boogard and Hiller (depending if he's consistent this season) considering we'll have about 20+ million in space.
complete shopping list…

Tyler Hall.
Well according to CBS, Komisarek is the best defensive dmen in the league. And Garnet Exelby is a great grit defenceman. Not to mention Colton Orr is a gritty player who specialized on the PK! Which the Leafs have struggled with!
Just typos? Your grammar's worst than that of my 8 yr old niece, punk.
And it's nice to see that you were able to crawl from under your rock and admit you're one of those biased, homer pukes.
It's Taylor Hall, you illiterate puke.
Hey, retard, your opinion + $1.55 gets you an XL coffee at Tim Hortons.
What are you a GM in your spare time, or maybe a scout? You have no clue as to how things will play out for any of the teams but it's cute to see how you think you do.
Minny inking Havlat and waving goodbye to Gaborik is a lateral move, but one I'm sure they don't mind making due to Gaborik's attitude.
As for Gaborik, Sather signs a whiny polly prissypants to big money and expects him to go to work for John Torture-ella?
Montreal seems to be loading up on ex-Devils. Unfortunately those ex-Devils don't seem to be nearly as good when not in front of Brodeur.
Toronto unloads Kubina only to take on Komisarek and his 11 points a season – Brian Burke sure to be knighted for this.
Starting goaltender by game 41 for your New York Islanders, Dwayne Roloson.
Knuble – going to score a TON crashing the net following AO's twisted wristers.
Everything else – yawn.
Thanks nice listing… Funny that you mentioned earlier that you thought the Canadians will sign Taylor Pyatt. Because my first thoughts when looking at the Gomez trade (from Montreal's point of view) was that the Habs are going after Gomez because he's the best center that they could possibly get to play with Gianta. Same thing with Tom Pyatt, Taylor Pyatt's younger brother. In my opinion (and I believe in yours as well), the #1 reason the Canadians traded for Gomez and Pyatt was so they could also sign Gianta and Taylor Pyatt. Busto baffles me still though… I count at least fourteen D-men that I rate higher on the Rangers depth chart. Maybe Busto is somehow friends with some of the other UFA's that are out there under Gainey's radar or something?
k..
1. im a huge gaborik fan, but do the rangers really have to sign a big ticket to a huge long term deal every year that will almost guaruntee to bite them in the ass?
2. what the hell was gainey doing? he overpaid for all 3 of those free agents and acquired one of the worst contracts in tehe league. i know they have cap room but jeez..
3. not bad for the leafs. komisarek does make me hate the leafs that much more and 4.5 a year is overpaying, but its not insane. i loved orr when he was on the bruins but paying a fighter $1 million a year usually isnt a a good idea.
4. you've got to believe the blackhawks will contend this year. that being said, even though they got great value for hossa, it may bite them in the ass when they have to resign toews, kane, keith, seabrook, etc.
5. i'm really excited to see what havlat can do as THE got to guy in a now more "run and gun" wild team. great value for him
Suffering from a little Burke envy?
Wahhhh our number one center is Gomez wahhhhh
Grow a pair.
yea, bernier would be a last resort option if we really wanted a wheeler type player added to the roster. i would rather try and put hanson and some young guys in that spot first though. still, he could probably be had easier than someone like wheeler.
i am really hoping that boston resigns kessel, and then is unable to get themselves to the point they need to be at cap-wise, and need to make a trade. that's when we jump in and offer ponikarovsky for wheeler. poni is capable of more points (right now) and is 750K cheaper, but wheeler is someone we could lock up long term. it could happen.
i want to see burke go hard after barker and clowe though.
Good boy, now we're closing in on your tipping point where you go devolve from unspired childlike insults to full on tantrum.
Under my rock? I'm on my soapbox seven days week.
I'm really just sad for you.
and who exactly is your #1 center? ponikarstiffsky? grabmyski,or jason fake?none of those guys could hold a candle to gomez!
Wasn't Grabovski a bluechipper in Hamilton? Truth is I've never been all that impressed with him. Well thats not true he had a start to the season then faded.
Yeah Blake is bad contract, Ponikarvoski is an expiring deal, he's gone by the time we'll be competitive again.
Gomez can play, but he's not worth Crosby money.
You're under the false impression that I care where the Leafs finish next season.
Keep'em coming reprobates…
In response:
1. Yes, it's the Rangers after all.
2. Yes he did, but you have to in Montreal, note how they hadn't signed a free agent of note in YEARS before this year. I like what he did with the D aside from losing Komi. The forwards…I'm not sure we're any better than we were last year, and certainly not any bigger.
3. Depends on which Komi the leafs get. He's never going to score a bunch of points(except for every game he plays against the Habs where I will expect nothing less than a 2 goal, 3 assist night, just saying… that's usually how it goes for ex-Habs) so it all comes down to his defensive and physical game. Last year's Komi was not worth this contract, however if he plays the way he did two years ago he'll probably be worth every penny. Have to wait and see.
4. Chicago is going to be a wicked team to watch.
5. Who else does Mini have?
thank-god bob gainey didn't go after that stiff antroflop! what a joke that would've been, not to mention the waste of money! he's not worth 3million and he's asking for 5 million!
5. who cares who they have? its more who they havent, and thats the old guard of coaching. they will take a step back this year but expect more offense out of them. we'll see which of the trapping plugs has been hiding secret talent all these years.
Being an RFA is still a free agent. A player is allowed to sign with and talk to whoever they want. It works exactly like ufa's where teams will call and discuss offers and terms etc. And if the player decides he wants to sign with that team instead of the one that owns his rights he will sign the offer sheet from that team, then his former team has either 24 or 48 hours to make a decision. So the only real difference is the team that owns his rights has final decision of if they want to let him go for the compensation or match the offer and retain the player.
plus bonuses
well we got Gaborik….when he is healthy he will be worth the money….when he isnt healthy the deal will show that we overpaid…
in any event i am glad we didnt get Heatley…he is a nut case and we would have had to give up too much to get a jerk off like him….
i hope the rangers sign Mara and Morris as well….but Morris isnt worth 4 million…maybe somewhere between 2.5 and 3 million…. then i hope they deal Rozsival and bring up Sangs…they should deal Zherdev as well now that they got Gaborik…
How about Zherdev for a first and top ten prospect and Rozsival for a second and a top five prospect in separate deals
Dump there salaries and it makes the Gaborik move look a lot better
You have to realize though that Toronto is rebuilding right now and is not looking to be a cup contender this season like the Habs are.
Minnesota saves 2.5 Million a year in cap space for basically the same type of player. Thats all i can say about that. Havlat should do well though with the up tempo style the Wild are suppose to play next year.
Hes better then any Hab forward pre-free agency this season…
I think kovy and koivu are better, aside from that he is better than the rest. I would of loved to see him signed playing number 2 center behind gomez and trade plecky. 5 mil a year is steep. I'd sign him for 3.5 a year that seems fair
Nik Antropov to Alanta. Four years, sixteen million.

Get a job. I'm sad for those of us working folks who pay your way in the world. Shame.
Scott Gomez! That blowhard will do for your precious Leafs what he's done for Vancouver and Anaheim. Not very much. And before you give him credit for the Ducks Stanley Cup win, keep in mind most of the pieces were in place before he got there.
Burke? You can keep him, it will ensure another 5-6 years Cup drought.
Not really, I would call what transpired in Montreal over the past 48 hrs rebuilding also.
Burke vs Murray debate? Way to stay topical….
This is irritating, you're sooooo dull and one note that even I can't make you interesting….
I'm posting for work, so whatever, more big talk from the guy whose undevelop social graces remain an obstacle for him penerate a social circle on the internet.
Its pretty clear life hasn't been kind to you.
Im sorry but you will never get a first round pick AND a top 10 prospect for Zherdev lol and nobody will take rozival lol and gainey ass is still raw from the brutal raping he took from sather already lmfao

I would love to steal Pronger from the Flyers after they were stupid enough to pay that much for him thinking he would be there for the long haul.
He apparently wants a 5 year extension though, which is why Anaheim dumped him. He's also practically the only good UFA defensemen available next year (except Hamhuis, but he isn't Pronger calibre). He knows he'll get it somewhere.
I think we go for Savard and Nash.
