Kaberle to Philadelphia?

15 teams interested in all-star D, plus other Leaf players shopped around

The latest hot rumor arising from the GM meetings has the Philadelphia Flyers interested in acquiring Toronto Maple Leafs all-star defenseman Tomas Kaberle.Bruce Garrioch of Sun Media is reporting that trade talks between the Leafs and Flyers have intensified in the last 24 hours, and that Kaberle could be on the move.

The belief is Kaberle may have been asked to waive his no movement clause and if he agrees a deal could be completed.

Leafs GM Fletcher and Flyers GM Paul Holmgren were seen meeting briefly earlier today.

My personal view: I strongly suspect this is a false rumor. I don’t believe the Leafs will trade Kaberle to an Eastern Conference opponent. But that’s me.

Meanwhile, Scott Morrison of CBC Sports is reporting that as many as 15 teams are eying Kaberle. For this and other rumors, check out the link.

In addition, Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun reports that the following Leaf players could be shopped around in the coming days: Sundin, Kaberle, McCabe, Kubina, Gill, Steen, Toskala, Stajan, Antropov, Ponikarovsky and Kilger.

Toskala is a bit surprising, but just imagine for a moment what the Leafs could get for him.

Lastly, Kevin McGran of the Toronto Star reports that Ponikarovsky and Antropov could be moved if management is unable to trade players with movement clauses or big contracts.
