Karlis Skrastins to break a record!

Tonight, Avs defenseman Karlis Skrastins played in his 486th consecutive game which ties him with Tim Horton for the longest consecutive games streak by a defensemen in NHL history. He can break the record Thursday night against Atlanta.

This is some news that is not going to get much attention in major sports outlets, but it is an outstanding achievement. Skrastins is not a household name, but he has always been a reliable defensive presense who routinely plays against the opponent’s top scoring lines. Congratulations to Scratch on his achievement.

    so?!?

does that make it any less of an achievement?!?

almost 500 games in a row is quite the achievement by any standard, even if he's only a defensive defenseman!

A very impressive accomplishment given that Karlis is a rugged, physical defensemen, juts the type of player to miss games because he got hurt sacrificing his body to block a shot or make/take a hit.  Kinda fitting that he is of that Tim Horton type mold.  Way to go Skrastins.

Hey Saku_Koivu you have an awesome name but with comments like that you do a huge in justice to that name as Saku would never talk like that. Man Karlis ties and then breaks a long standing record like this and IDIOTS like you bash Get a LIFE
