Keenan still persuing Belfour

According to the General Manager Mike Keenan denies reports he’s broken off contract talks with goaltender Ed Belfour.TSN reported on its website that the team had a “change of heart” and broke off negotiations with Belfour. But Keenan said that wasn’t the case.

“It’s news to me,” he said when asked about the report. “We haven’t closed the door on the situation.

“We’ve been working through an evaluation, and that process is continuing. We’ve been in discussions with his agent, and it’s possible he’s told someone we’re done talking. But if that’s true, I’m not aware of it.”

The Panthers should just pick up Legace for $2M a season and go with a 1-2 system with Auld.

I agree, and they could probably get Legace cheaper than that.

I would see him more in St Louis or minnesota.

Looks like every team are in a deadlock for atleast till the beginning of training camp.

that would def. be a good move by them, but im praying we (Buffalo) can somehow swing a miracle and send biron and pick for bouwmeester (lol)

problem is we already have a solid group of 6, and a good young prospect d-man in nathan paetsch. whos expendable then? Kalinin maybe? I say he still has a ton of potential.

Geeze you know things are slow when the daily Belfour news is about as exciting as it gets.

Any team to take belfour will be lower than they should be in the standings. Because in the rumors for him coming to Detroit it was said he would play games but not as much as Osgood. He will complain like he did in Dallas when Turco started taking over saying it was his team and all. Wings should go out and get either goalie from Sj. And everyone thinking Datsyuk or Zettaberg for Nabakov NO WAY. Holland said Zettaberg will be the wings captain in the future.

We all know that any team willing to take a chance on Belfour (see the Sens last year w/Hasek) is bound to screw themselves over for the rest of the season if… no, WHEN he goes out with another back injury.

If I were Mike Keenan I would only sign him for the league minimum plus incentives.

I think thats been the problem everywhere. He wants a starting role, or at least to play over half the games. I can see Keenan giving that to him considering they are friends, and Auld would then still get to play about 30 games or so. Especially since Belfour is bound to go down with many injuries through-out the year

  12. bpanther83 says:

This is Belfour your talking about. No way he’ll sign for less than 2 mil a year. If he would sign for that cheap, he would be somewhere already.
