Komisarek reportedly has a list of teams he will accept trade to

For the first and only time this season, the Toronto Maple Leafs will not take to the ice for one of their traditional Saturday night games, but even without a game today, we have plenty of Maple Leafs news making the rounds.

Mike Komisarek, who hasn’t played since February 2nd against the Bruins, has reportedly issued a list of 12 teams he would accept a trade to.

Komisarek, along with defenseman John-Michael Liles, has been a healthy scratch the last few games, and it now appears he has played his last game for the ‘Blue and White’. The former Montreal Canadien had missed time earlier this year after an apparent temper tandrum, but the real reason for such a demotion has come down to his play on the ice.

Komisarek is by no means the same player the Leafs thought they were getting when they signed him to a five-year free agent contract worth $22.5 million in 2009, which included a limited no-movement clause. After being considered a solid defensive presence on the Montreal blue line, Komisarek never looked comfortable in a Leafs uniform, posting a negative plus / minus rating the last three years. This season, he has appeared in just four games and is due $4.5 million for this season and next.

    To wash:
    2nd 2013

    To tor:

The struggling caps get 2 young prospects, a one-dimensional sniper, a decent centre with excellent f/o ability, and a 2nd rd pick (just for the lolz).

We get a legit first line player. A change of scenery would likely benefit Ovie, and he would love the spotlight here.

This all but guarantees that the caps will get a top 5 pick — new franchise player

Get Getzlaf off FA for our TLC issue.
Get Mike Smith off FA as a backup.

    2013/2014 TML roster:

    JVR – Getzlaf – Ovechkin
    Lupul – Kadri – Frattin
    Kuli – Grabo – Komarov
McLaren – McClement – Orr (Brown)

    Phaneuf – Holzer
    Rielly – Kostka
    Franson – Fraser

This team is a lock for the playoffs and a definite contender.

    Nonis, just do it.

Getzlaf is re-signing in Anaheim. Why leave when you have a yong and promising team for Toronto?

If Anaheim has to choose between Perry and Getzlaf, they’re obviously going with Getzlaf 100%.

Why? Because Center’s are rare while the other position is replacable through many stream.

I would to see a list of teams that would take Komisarek

Also funny to see everyone put MacAuthur in every trade scenario, MacAuthur scores a lot of clutch timely goals, he’s cheap and you can plug him anywhere in the top six. I’m huge Mac fan would love to keep him in the 2.5 million range.

MacArthur is actually kind of expensive for what he brings. He has a lot of skill but he’s too small. He actually makes $3.5 million.

I like him, he’s fine as a 3rd line winger but honestly:

Kessel, JVR, Lupul, Kulemin, Komarov, Frattin, MacArthur, and the goons, we’re pretty deep on wing and Macarthur is the smallest of the group. This is why I believe he’s always on the outs of all the arm chair GM’s future plans. I have no problem keeping him but he’d have to take a pay cut.

Pretty sure Komisarek has to submit that list at the beginning of the year as part of his NMC.

From what I heard Komisarek requested a trade (for obvious reason) and he would likely go anywhere if he can get ice time.

lol… that’s too funny…a list.. they must be KHL teams or American Hockey League teams because I don’t see anyone so desperate in the NHL to want him… lol! 🙂

Komisarek to Edmonton for Whitney. Anyone do it?

      • mojo19 says:

I would totally do it. Komisarek is the biggest piece of shit to ever dawn the Blue and White. I hate Brian Burke for ever signing him. Never learned his lesson from Bobby Clarke, who out of the lockout put a ton of stock/cap space into Hatcher and Rathje, ultimately the Flyers finished in last in the NHL that season.

The era of big slow, tough dmen being top end guys was the clutch and grab era, it ended with the 2005 lockout.

Also Komisarek was never good for Montreal. Anyone who thinks he was didn’t watch him play and was swayed by media hype. He’s a piece of shit.

Ya totally agree, I think Komisarek will just be bought out at the end of the season. I could see Connolly to the NYI for a 5th or 6th round pick. Connolly was actually drafted 5th overall by the NYI and is from New York, so I could see him going there, if the Islanders are interested.

          • mojo19 says:

Connolly would be a nice pick up for the Islanders.

They actually traded him with Taylor Pyatt, who was also a high pick for Mike Peca. Same offseason they grabbed Osgood and Yashin and skyrocketed in the standings.

2002 was the year, we beat the Islanders in the first round that year. I’m pretty sure Adrian Aucoin scored over 20 that season as well, and Steve Webb was their goon.

            Leaf memories.

When he first started out, he was extremely physical and would hit everything that moved and hard. Problem is his game has been going south the past 5 years and he never had any offensive game. Certainly not worth the money.

Having said that, I don’t think he was bad the few games he played this year and is somewhat a victim of a numbers game.
