What would it take to land Shea Weber? Nail Yakupov and a first?
Guess again. Oilers president Kevin Lowe loves Weber and they have the young offensive assets the Nashville Predators, always struggling to get goals, would need, but Nail Yakupov and a first-rounder wouldn’t come close to snagging the towering defenceman.
You would need four pieces, most likely draft picks and two position players. I can’t imagine GM David Poile in Nashville would give it a moment’s glance unless forwards Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins were in the conversation. Weber is one of the three or four best defencemen in the game, in his prime. Like a Chris Pronger.
