Leaf News

According to Hockeybuzz.com the leafs are close to resigning Darcy Tucker and also it is strongly believed that Gary Roberts will be returning to Toronto before the trade deadline.

Also the Montreal Canadiens have been heavily scouting the flyers and I can only think of one reason why. Peter Forseberg

I have been one of the few people not constantly calling for JFJ's head, but if he gives Tucker a no trade clause, he better start packing his bags.  Worst move you could make.

Lebrun, on After 40 Minutes, said that the Leafs weren't close to signing Tucker and expect him to be moved.

I think Leafs management (higher up than Fergie, Peddie) should strongly consider a policy which will not allow no-movement clauses. Then Fergie doesn’t have to give one to everybody, after giving one to McCabe.

i couldnt find it. i watched Satellite hotstove (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hnic/satellite-hotstove.html) and i didn't hear anything abou it. was there an 'After 40 minutes' somewhere else on another telecast?

If Tucker is back just before the deadline – and he likely will be – and Bertuzzi's injury is likely to keep him injured until after the deadline, Tucker's return would rise in my opinion. Forsberg is a centre. Blake, Nagy, Sturm, and Carter all available along with the St. Louis forwards. but to me, Tucker is right up there in terms of valuable wingers who can do some damage on the PP.

also, for months i've been talking about Bell being traded and finally there are people coming around to that actually happening (re: Spectorshockey.net, today's Sun). it just makes sense. they have enough offensive D-men young and old and Bell has shown other GMs he can play in the NHL and be a solid 5-6 D-guy. he's cheap, he's young with some upside.

i expect him to go to Vancouver with Tucker, Tampa Bay or Florida.

Nagy will be traded according to the Hotstove, i hope the leafs are going after him. Eklund thinks they are so its probably not going to happen. But i would trade Bell, Suglobov and a 2nd rounder for him. if they Coytoes want a better deal (and they probably will), i'd take Suglobov off the table and try to trade Antropov who may be at his highest value right now.

Modin is likely to stay in Columbus unfortunately.

Could Joseph and Roberts return to the Leafs? i doubt it but who knows? both players have apparently stated that the Leafs would be the most attractive destination. If both want to resign for half of what they made this year (so Cujo: 1 million, Roberts: 1.2 million) then that would be fine with me. That means Aubin is gone (500K) and it makes Tucker and Antropov that much more easier to trade for prospects/picks in return.

I'm going to make a bold prediction and say that Ferguson does the right thing and moves Tucker before the deadline.
