How about Gaston Gingras for Larry Landan?

  2. lafleur10 says:

the leafs are after bournival and thomas franson and a pick a 2nd rd pick would be just what the doctor ordered

    • LN91 says:

Not for Franson…Some team will pay a 1st.

I think the Habs want Santorelli

      • lafleur10 says:

we don’t need any more 4th liners w e have enough of them so santorelli is a no go it’lkl be franson and a pick

        • LN91 says:

          Sorry, will not happen.

Toronto could get a prospect and a 2nd from a non-division rival for Franson…So, he will not be going there.

          Nice try though 😉

the leafs called us we didn’t call them and they aren’t exactly dealing from a postion of strenght if they can get to young guys like that it might be in there best intersted because what if franson walks away for nothing

            • LN91 says:

Toronto is dealing from a position of strength as the Habs will most likely be in a bidding war.

They have interest in Bournival, but I doubt for Franson as he’s not a solid prospect.

your dealing a ufa so your not dealing froma position of strenght and i think thomas and bournival for franson and a 2nd is a very good return for a ufa defenceman especially for 2 young guys with decent contracts

                • LN91 says:

Both contracts are expiring, Franson is not getting that in a deal

                • Steven_Leafs0 says:

That won’t get it done for Toronto. Rental defencemen are worth a ridiculous amount lately. Last year Douglas fricken Murray went for two 2nds. With the right bidding war Toronto can get a prospect and a 1st for Franson, especially if they are willing to eat half of his contract (they are).

Also Bournival and Thomas are not producing for Montreal so I don’t think they are worth as much as you do. Panik averages similar ice time but gets more points per game and is no where near worth a 2nd round pick, let alone Franson and a 2nd.

                  • lafleur10 says:

well we’ll see what you get in return for franson….. you could get more but maybe not if he stays after the deadline and walks away for nothing you’ll look back and say that this was the best offer you got and should’ve took it, bournival isn’t producing because he doesn’t play that much ,same with thoimas he’s only been up since parenteau got hurt but he’s showing that given the right amount of ice time and play with offensive players he can produce just how much he will produce is anyone’s guess

                    • Steven_Leafs0 says:

Well obviously we had no worry of value for Franson and since there is no chance Bournival or Thomas bring in a 1st and a 2nd I’d say we did 20x better with Nashville.

Anyway my point with their production, while they are still young so is Panik who is out producing them both combined at the same amount of ice time and he is no where near worth a 2nd round pick.

                  • lafleur10 says:

the leafs got a good return for franson and santorelli…i think you guys now have set the market for ufa rentals

    • leafy says:

I’ll tell you what Lafleur, we’ll flip you Robert Picard and you give us Bunny Larocque.

    • leafmeister says:

Only Franson and a 2nd? Don’t sell yourself short Lafleur. Remember when you correctly predicted that Josh Gorges was worth JVR?

I think it would be Franson, Nylander and the 2015 1st. Don’t you?

    As per TSN

Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced Sunday that the team has acquired defenceman Cody Franson and forward Mike Santorelli from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Nashville’s first-round selection in the 2015 Draft, and forwards Brendan Leipsic and Olli Jokinen.

    • LN91 says:

Atleast we got that another first, would have been nice to get Watson though.

      • TmLeafan says:

A 1st and a solid prospect is not a bad return. Leipsic is the key to the deal it sounds like.

Jokinen sucks and will help with the tank. I like this deal, nice to have another 1st rounder the West is tough Nashville could always get bumped in the 1st round.
