the leafs need to trade raycroft for few draft picks and try and trade Kubina and pohl for brandon witt and a few draft picks this would solidify our PK with this extra cap room ( which is around 5 million) we could resign Peca to a one year two million dollar contract and sign Cujo to a one year one million dollar contract the Leafs would be an easy fit at the 5th spot or possibly better seeing as the Sabers are gonna *****in suck without briere and drury. Our lineup will look something like this

Blake Anropov Tucker Bell
Sundin Wellwood Peca Stajan
Steen Ponikarovsky Kilger Battaglia
Kaberla McCabe Gill
Witt Colaiacovo White Toskala
Joseph
Clemmenson
Pogge

we would have an amazing PK with ...Peca, Bell,Witt and Gill as our first unit....we have balanced scoring on every line with each forward very capable of scoring 20+ goals...we have toughness, forchecking a scoring

I don’t know if I agree with Wellwood and Tucker on the PK. If we had Peca back I’d use him on the PK, along with Blake, Sundin, Antropov, Poni, Steen, and Stajan as my penalty killing forwards.

If Peca signs PK will not be a problem, the power-play will be awesome because we have 2 quarterbacks and two triggermen. I would put Kubina on the 1st PP because that would break up the other teams PK between stopping Kaberle or blocking McCabes shot.

Our offence is good but could be getting considerably better if Eklund is right on this one. If we got either one of Svatos or Hejduk imagine that.

This site is turning into a Leafs site, I love it, could read about em all day. I totally agree with your assessment. We have improved alot in Goal, overall grit and goal scoring to take pressure off of Mats, look for him to have a solid year. As for the PK, most of the guys are right, we need to sign Peca. We would have Peca, Tucker, Wellwood and Blake for PK up front, this backs off Defence and they won't pitch in as much because of the speed. I would pair them as Tucker/Peca and Wellwood/Blake. I believe the D this year will only get better, you have a goalie that can now make keys saves and actually steal a game. GO LEAFS GO!!!!

I'm totally there with ya when you say the special teams is a concern. Signing peca should take care of any problems in the penalty kill, so Mats can go out there on the powerplay

i think the most improved part of toronto is depth in general. picking up blake will help with top line scoring and bell will help a lot on the lower lines. even if they end up being injury prone they can still stay in the swing of things. toskala was also a great pick up. that boosts the goaltending a lot, well enough at least. penalty killing, like you said is where they really need to improve i think. they need a guy that can cover the ice and get physical against teams top talent. colby armstrong is on the trading block….
