Leafs Ink Tony Salmelainen
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that the club has signed forward Tony Salmelainen to a one-year contract as per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Salmelainen had six goals and 17 points in 57 games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season. He has played in 70 career NHL games and recorded six goals and 12 assists for 18 points.
Salmelainen was named the top player in the Finnish elite league in 2005-06 as he scored 27 goals and added 28 assists in 53 games.
