I’m probably the only person who thinks this is a good signing. he can produce, he’s solid in his own end, and his numbers don’t lie.

31 points in 57 games, and a plus minus of +13

highest +/- on the leafs i think

you gotta be kidding me……thats it im done.

hey NAVAJO, bout time we got sundin a winger ah…. awesome.I bet sundin cant wait to play with this sniper again ah….LMFAO

he’s probably signed to his original 1-year, 1.007 million dollar contract.

i think this is a sensible move for the leafs because of their cap situation and for a lot of other reasons.

he’s one more tradeable commodity with no no-trade clause. he’s still young, and he puts up an average of one point every two games. he played very well for the leafs last year.

on the downside is his injury history and is inconsistency prior to last year. but the leafs need signings like these because of all the cap space taken up by their defensemen. i hope they trade for Roberts (having Belak go back the other way, and maybe a mid-to-low round pick), and sign Lindros for a million or less. Battaglia or Ondrus could be the extra, depth-forward. they’ll have some, not a lot, cap space left over and should be set:

yes, Lindros is on the wing. but he is on Sundin’s wing. this is a fearsome line (if lindros remains healthy of course). the second line will finally feature Steen at centre and he’ll have some size (antropov) and grit (Tucker) along with Steen’s finesse and hard work ethic. Wellwood has the experience of Roberts and O’Neill on his wings, the former goes to the net, the latter has an excellent shot and should be fully recovered from his shoulder injury. finally, Stajan, Kilger, and Pohl seem like the perfect 4th-line, up-tempo line that Maurice can put out there.

Yup, i am betting on Pilar coming back and being a suitable partner for Kubina. if not him, then Coliacovo. if not Coliacovo, then Bell, Kronvall, Woz, Harrison … are you getting the picture? IN NO WAY shape or form should gill and kubina be paired up together.

i am assuming that Telly will lose the back-up job and will be traded for a mid-to-low-round pick (making up for the pick traded for Roberts and freeing up some cap space). Pogge will get the starting job over Racine in the AHL. if Raycroft struggles, its all up to Aubin.

i dont see this line-up being more than 42 million … still too much for a team that i dont expect to rise above 7th and will probably finish out of the playoffs.

battaglia is looking like a long term marlie

i like what you’ve done, but so far i’ve heard that the deal is set, roberts for a 3rd rounder, and keenan is waiting until he can find roberts replacement. Belak is good to keep in the pressbox anyway. he’s cheap, and can play defence or forward. plus he showed improvement last season.

i’m hoping pilar comes back too, but i think he fell off the horse and never got back on. his nhl days are probably over, but we can All hope i’m wrong

I love the line up, playoffs for sure if no one major gets hurt.

  8. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

second to poni, but still!!!! why does everyone want to trade him?

I hope he doesn’t play with Sundin. Put him on the forth line and use him as a checker. First and second line players need to be able to produce more than half a point a game. He doesn’t have the speed to play top line either. If he can put up the kind of numbers he did last year as a third or fourth liner, this isn’t too bad. I just dont see the skill level from Antropov on a consistant basis that is needed from “Top End Players”. He’s been around for 6 years and still hasn’t had shown any flashes. He is far enough into his career that he should be more consistant. He’s in the prime of his career and all he’s shown he’s capable of is a checker at best. At this point you can’t call him a scorer.

    Playing with Sundin

  11. FlyersfanKyle says:

there gonna have to find a way to score 5on5 because their forwards have gone downhill allison was crucified but he still had 60 although he was a -18 +/-

  12. DJTOKid says:

And I totally agree that Kubina and Gill should not play together. Gill should be on the third pairing and get about 14mins a night, Pairing them with a young stud each is the best plan. Unless you split up Mccabe and Kaberle. I wouldn’t mind

    McCabe Kubina

    Kaberle Colaiacovo

    Gill White

looks pretty good, good depth, I think alot of people are going to notice a big change in the defense of the leafs this year. They are so much deeper then they have ever been. Kubina may be over paid by .5-1mil but the guy was Tampa bays anchor when they won the cup. He was there rock on the blueline, there version of a stud. Don’t tell me it was Dan Boyle, that guy is just a powerplay secialist.

but again love that line up

  13. leafs4cup says:

put stajan in antropovs spot ,antropov has no use on the team let alone top six give the ice time to stajan.

  14. Hoondog2 says:

I think its a good signing.

When he is healthy i think he is very good, the problem is he takes a while to get going after an injury and he gets injured a lot.

If he could ever get a full season under his belt, im betting he would put up pretty good numbers.

  15. DJTOKid says:

    how bout a three way…

    To Toronto: Roberts

To Florida: Blues 3rd round pick 07

    To St.louis: Belak and Tellqvist

    then sign Lindros and Peca…

    (Pohl, Ondrus, Suglobov, Williams)

    (Kronvall, Pilar)

They could fit this team under the cap if peca didn’t cost too much. This team would be DEEP, deeper then Ron Jeremy in Briana Banks. Could contend for a cup if Raycroft played really well, only in a perfect world eh.

  16. Minky says:

White and Gill would work great i think. We get the size and physical play of Gill, but the quickness and agility of White to make up for Gill’s lack thereof.

  17. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

he played 15 games with sundin and had a BETTER +/- than sundin!!!!!!!!

  18. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

keep pohl in the lineup and look at your salay cap numbers, you’re a million or two over 44
