Leafs trade in the works!

I heard earlier on MOJO 640 in Toronto that the Maple Leafs are in a 3 way deal with the Pens and the Devils.

To Toronto: Ryan Malone

To Pittsburgh: Jay Pandolfo

To New Jersey: Antropov, 4th round pick in 2007 (Toronto)

why is this not on the HTR home page? are leaf speculations now relegated to specialized spaces on the site so that the usual leaf/anti-leaf bashing gets censored?

    in any case,

i am not big on malone (and neither is his last two coaches). i mean, this kid is young and its early in his career, he has skills, and he has the genetics (like another LW, Alex Steen). but the negatives might outweigh the positives.

although i don’t think this deal will go down BECAUSE it was mentioned on MOJO 640, it would be one that i would go for if i were JFJ.

I don’t like the 4th round pick and I would hope it would be lowered to like a 6th round pick or lower.

From Toronto’s perspective it would be good, Antropov is young but his knees are just giving out on him too much. Malone would be a slight upgrade and is healthier. I don’t know if this is a good trade for the Devils though. losing pandolfo and gaining Antropov who costs a million bucks, is young, but is injury-prone.

if this were to happen the leafs could move Tucker to the right side of Sundin or Wellwood and use Malone on the left side of Wellwood (or just make him a depth forward and make him play his way onto the roster like Czerkawski).

sounds true suprisingly……..nice move by leafs malone is awsome

  4. koolcory77 says:

    can anyone verify this deal?

  5. Marky2Fresh says:

I’m just happy to see Antropov out, I don’t even think he’s NHL caliber.

  6. 92-93 says:

is there a link for this speculation?

  7. lukeleim says:

Antropov was playing well before he was injured. I dont understand why toronto would have to give up a draft pick along with the young right winger. Malone has been struggling this year but had a great first year in the NHL in 03-04… Antropov straight up for Malone sounds more evenly fair.

I can’t see Big Lou getting rid of Pando, he’s been a fan favorite and underated for years

the guy gives 100% every game

Antropov might be better skilled than Pando but he’s got maybe a 3rd of the heart

The Devils don’t need another “Kozlov” unless his name is Slava

  9. Gretzkin says:

Antropov os consistantly injured. Thats why he warrants a draft pick as well

  10. 92-93 says:

yeah i agree. and as much as i don’t want to give up a 4th rounder, that does make sense too because Antropov is always injured and when he isn’t he’s an OK player.

but i don’t think that this trade isn’t going to go down because no one has provided any links and the source of the rumor is hardly reliable.

Im not sure about Ryan Malone, I mean he has some skill, but anybody who is on a line with Mario Lemieux in their rookie season is going to flourish, if we give them antropov, he would also flourish with Lemiuex. But i guess we could use a power foward, and a change of scenery for both players.

Antropov is not a bad player, he just is injury prone. IDK what this would bring us. Malone could just be a onetime thng, kinf of like Riechel, czerkawski, along those lines.

We would have to play Malone with our best players and the line up would look like this.

What do you Leaf fans think of this trade:

    To Colorado:

    To Toronto:

  13. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

bad deal for colorado i would rather have a decent goalie for 15 years then a good goalie for 1 year and have to search around for a prospect that is any good or trade for a goalie.

  14. Leaf_Nation19 says:

This would definitely be a good trade for the Leafs as they’re lacking in depth upfront, and Malone’s true talent can’t be seen on a team with players that are overpaid and underachieving such as Palffy, LeClair, Gonchar etc, and Crosby in my opinion is pretty useless but that’s just because I just don’t like the kid. I’ve also heard rumors bringing Fata to Toronto as well, can anyone verify that? I’d see the line-up for offense more being:

    Steen Sundin O’Neill

    Tucker Lindros Malone

    Poni Allison Stajan

    Kilger Wellwood Domi

You have to remember that this is a trade involving the Leafs, therefore it will never happen.

  16. habs79 says:

Come on look at your source, AM 640, you can’t take them or rogers sportsnet seriously. They both employ the dumbest idiot to call himself a “hockey expert” Bill Waters. Both AM 640 and sportsnet are nothing but Leafs propaganda.

  17. habs79 says:

They had to make room for all the Theo trade talk for the past couple of weeks LOL.

Maybe because there are so many Leaf articles they decided to give them their own section. I believe the Canucks have one as well. I noticed there hadn’t been as many Leaf articles as usual. This is my first visit to the Leafs section.

  18. 92-93 says:

yeah well it kind of sucks.

i mean, why punish leaf fans for posting speculations on a trade rumor website by relegating them to an obscure part of the website?

why not punish the idiots who keep making disrespectful posts – leaf fans and non-leaf fans included.

anyways, as you can see, this section is not getting a lot of hits because i don’t think many know about it.

  19. habs79 says:

Alot of people are probably wondering where all the Leaf fans went. I agree with you it does suck, I don’t know why they did this.

According to Eklund, Nabokov and another San Jose Shark may be traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. This makes sense considering how Belfour has been struggling this year with consistancy.

Nik Antropov, Andy Wozniewski, Ed Belfour, Clarke Wilm & 3rd Round Draft Pick to Sane Jose for Alyn McCauley & Evgeni Nabokov

Jason Allison, Aki Berg, John Pohl & Tuukka Rask to Calgary for Jordan Leopold & Steven Reinprecht

Alexander Khavanov, Mariusz Czerkawski, Jay Harrison & 2nd Round Draft Pick for Barret Jackman

Alexander Steen – Mats Sundin – Darcy Tucker

Alexei Ponikarovsky – Eric Lindros – Steven Reinprecht

Matt Stajan – Alyn McCauley – Jeff O’Neill

Chad Kilger – Kyle Wellwood – Tie Domi

    Wade Belak

    Tomas kaberle – Bryan McCabe

    Jordan Leopold – Barret Jackman

    Ken Klee – Carlo Colaiacovo

    Staffan Kronwall

    Evgeni Nabokov

    Mikael Tellqvist

After these specific trades, it gives Toronto 6 solid defenseman, adds speed to the forward lines and gives Toronto a goaltender for next year and maybe years to come as long as he comes out of his slump.

no chance…abby will never be as good as belfour…even if we kept eddie until he was 50…i still wouldnt trade for that 1 year wonder

  22. future_agent says:

the leafs don’t need a *****y player like malone…get someone modest who will play for their spot on the team
