The L:eafs are actually starting a true rebuild? At long last. It hasn’t happened since the early 1960s.

  2. leafmeister says:

I think we all owe Josh Gorges a big ‘Thank You’ for refusing to come here.

Can’t remember if the Leafs ever had their 1st and another 1st in my life time. Of course no second round pick.

Wonder if we could go into 2016 will all our picks, has that ever happen? Only been alive since the early 80s…

  4. Gambo says:

I like this trade. Leipsic could be our Brad Marchand or Brendan Gallagher.

Watch Olli Jokinen score a goal a game and move the leafs out of a top 5 pick.

Well if Boyd Deveraux didn’t have that hat trick we might still have the Schenn brothers and no JVR

      • Gambo says:

Who knows, maybe we wouldn;t have made the playoffs two years ago and they would have dimantled the core already. Leaving us with Rielly, Monahan, Ekblad and McEichel.

If the Leafs did not make the playoffs, they probably would have dismantled the core that year or last season.

Unfortunately, cannot look at the past…So, now you have to correct the future.

But…Don’t tell that to blaze, who is shocked the Leafs did not sign Franson to a 7-year, 8 million deal.

Meh, I hate Franson but he could be a 5 x 5 Wizniewski or Wideman type guy that is serviceable.

How many good players are there making 5-6 million, they’re gamble contracts.

I like the trade more for that it signals the start of the rebuild then the bounty it provided us. I dont dislike The fact that we got Leipsic i like what he projects to be we need a guy like that. I love the first we acquired for sure as it gives Hunter work to do. It also gives us ammo to move up at the draft if the opportunity presents itself. I did however think that Franson would have got us that alone especially taking Joikinen back. I thought adding Santorelli would have brought more to it like say Fiala, but i do love that Nonis was proactive and made a move before either player got hurt and netted us nothing if hurt.

There was no way Nashville was going to give us Fiala straight up for Franson & Santoreilli. His stock rose with Nashville and being their former 11th overall pick he was never on the table.

  6. doorman says:

Seeing as how many of us thought Franson could’ve been worth a late 1st and a prospect and Santorelli worth a 2nd + possibly i didnt see it as a stretch. However Nonis would’ve had to gamble on neither player getting hurt and hoped for a bidding war. Like i said not disappointed just hoped for more.
