This makes no sense. Curtis Sanford played .500 hockey on a blues team that was so bad i couldnt begin to describe it. I watched Sanford against the thrashers. The thrashers only won 2-0 partly because Sanford was INCREDIBLE, he came up wiht big save after big save. I think with a half way decent team there is no reason that he couldnt put up a higher then .500 record.

  3. Guiletrud says:

he is still young and not that experienced in the NHL

having someone like Legace to help split duties will only make him a better goalie for the future.

    the new Patric Lalime

That is a good signing by St. Louis, Legace got shafted in Detroit just like Joseph did 10(?) years ago.

  6. Lint07 says:

funny how all the Eklund haters are no where to be found now…

I think the Blues signing Legace is great. With the somewhat improved defense, I can see Legace putting up decent numbers.

You are right, though–Sanford did play pretty darn good last year, considering how poorly the team as a whole played. He seems like a nice enough guy, too. The players were always saying how much confidence they have in him. But as a fan, I just didn’t have that same confidence. No offense to the guy. I would just feel more comfortable with Legace as my starter.

How was Legace shafted by the Wings? They gave him a chance to play in the NHL when it looked that he would have a career in the minors. He put all the pressure on himself for the playoffs last season saying if he didn’t win he would be gone from Detroit. Granted he wasn’t the only reason the Wings lost in the first round last season but has had 2 tries at leading the Wings in the playoffs and failed (against Nashville the season before when Cujo had to come in and save the Wings and last season). What happened with Cujo was not planned by the Wings since they thought Hasek was retired for good.

Detroit along with Toronto and Montreal are places that quickly turn on a goalie and put most of the blame on the goalie when the team loses…Ottawa is getting there too.

another solid signing by the Blues – first McKee and now Legace. they probably won’t make the playoffs this year but they have some promising young guys that will return this franchise to respectability – re: Erik Johnson, Sanford among others.

  10. leafsmarlies says:

Legace deserves more. If Raycroft gets 1.8 mil this year for one good and one bad season, why wouldn’t legace get double for a good season last year and many great seasons as back up with Detroit. Legace got screwed.

  11. Yann says:

I agree… but no one would take him… i think hes a decent starter but being in detroit paded his stats

  12. Preft says:

i always liked that Guy not a trouble maker,Good when he played, and he as something to proove now

the first trio of the blues is realy nice, tkachuk weigth Guerin… i think They should signe one RW, one or two defensive defensement…And one offensive(tarnstrom)

And trade for a defensive centerman like Radek bonk

And this team gonna be BAD realy bad for their ennemy…

st-louis is a GREaT organisation,And they do well This summer

a grinder their will be nice, like Domie

  13. tacitus says:

I wish the wings woulda kept him around for 1.4 instead of bringing in Hasek. I hope Legace all the best except for his 8 games against the wings. He has a chance to steal 16 points this year

  14. papichulo71 says:

Ottawa shouldn’t have rushed out and signed Gerber as they probably could have had him to a very similar deal. Who knows maybe they would still have Chara.

  15. Habroller says:

You must be a habs fan to propose Bonk here…

God I’d love to get rid of him and his 3 millions!

  16. puckhead94 says:

To quote a knowledgable hockey fan (myself)

The Blues are the 5th best team in a 5 team division, so it’s quite inconsequential.

  17. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

Gerber was 3.7mil Chara was over 7 mil, thers no way the Sens were getting away with Chara and Redden, and I think they picked the best guy to keep. Both Goalies stunk in the playoffs, although Gerber had some medical isues.

  18. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

    trade you Bonk for Gill

please tell me you were being sarcastic.
