thornton would be a great set up man for snipers like sakic and gagne…lecavalier’s line already has chemistry…the third line is the young speedy kids and the fourth is a good checking line with the speedy draper and tough boys iginla and bertuzzi, especially since neither one is having a great year offensively…there can still be room for players like nash, marleau, shanahan if they fill a role better…and the d is pretty much a lock, schneider, mccabe, and phaneuf could be added.

    gagne thornton sakic

    richards lecavalier st louis

    staal spezza heatley

    bertuzzi draper iginla

    neidermeyer foote

    pronger blake

    jovanovski redden

    brodeur luongo

more proof on how brainless leafymcleaf is.

  3. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

sorry i will take those who i know can play rather than those who were on a hot streak.

  4. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

your lineup is very good but i dont know about spezza on the top line with heatley. spezza making it i can see that. but sakic iginla gagne has been proven already on international stage that it is hard to stop them. spezza and heatley are proven yes but i would put them with sullivan and move sakic and gagne up.

and btw i never really thought brodeur was that great i always thought it was the team in front of him. exactly why he wasnt in my fantasy pool.

  5. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

another good job with lines. spezza is good but i dont know if i would have him 2nd line though.

  6. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

iginla 4th line? hah shows what you know bud.

  7. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

look at his team its a wonder hes only that bad

  8. LeafyMcLeaf says:

It’s not as if I left out Sakics, Lecavaliers, and Thorntons…

Sakic isn’t a winger, switch him with Iginla on that line.

  9. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

I really like your 3rd line i cant say i agree with Sakic and Gagne being on line 2 though

  10. LeafyMcLeaf says:

Sakic pulled decided not to go to the World Championships this year, I mean for christs sake is the tournament not good enough for him? Ryan Smyth has been there and been thrilled to be in any international tournament Canada asks him to be in. He played a huge roll in the World Juniors, World Championships, (7 times!) the Olympics, and the World Cup. Smyth is a quality guy on a bad team, the guy is the face of hockey Canada.

Footes looked really sloppy this year.

    Patrick Marleau

    Sidney Crosby

    Chris Pronger – Bryan McCabe

    Scott Niedermayer – Rob Blake

    Ed Jovanovski – Wade Redden

    Robyn Regehr

    Dion Phaneuf

    Martin Brodeur

    Roberto Luongo

    Curtis Joseph

that pretty much looks like the team i’d take with the exception of crosby even as a back up… dunno who i’d put in instead…

and luongo… in no way does his play constitute an olympic roster spot… i’d have joseph start, turco back up(even though im a leaf fan, he played an awesome game against them last night) and brodeur as a 3rd becuase hes had his chances before and is definatly not playing his best hockey right now, but is still better than theodore who couldn’t stop a beach ball and luongo who just doesn’t deserve it

the D lineup looks pretty good

He won’t be captain… Sakic will be, but Gretzky has no idea what he’s doing…

Sure he won gold, but it would take Bobby Clarke not to get Canada a gold medal!

  16. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

and sakic has paid his dues. 2 stanley cups about 15 seasons of hockey 1 conn smythe 1 gold medal. the guy deserved a rest and anyone can agree with me on that.

  17. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

foote is playing on columbus without rick nash. least someone on the leafs besides mccabe can score the same cant be said for columbus.

  19. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

switch sakic with thornton. thornton is more defensive then sakic. and morrow out for draper. draper is more defensive then morrow.

  20. habs79 says:

Did you actually call Turco the best goalie after Hasek?

    1st in wins

    10th in GAA

    19th in SP

Looks like maybe Dallas just wins some high scoring contests.

  21. leafs_flames99 says:

i would take staal over crosby…

and iginla or smyth should be captain

    heatley-Sakic-iginla

    gagne-thornton-nash

    staal-lecavlier-bertuzzi

    smyth-draper-doan

    marleau

    neidermayer-regehr

    pronger-mccabe

    foote-redden

    phaneuf

  22. JannettyTheRocker says:

Haha……Isn’t that the truth. Canada is pretty much a lock for gold, aren’t they. And as great of a hockey player as Gretzky has been, he has limited experience as a general manager/coach. I hope he succeeds, but if it were up to me I’d have a guy like John Muckler or Jacque Martin take the lead of team Canada. After what the two have done with the Senators, I’d think they would have the most success with team Canada……..Oh well, as long as we win Gold, I’m satisfied.

  23. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

gagne is on the first line. blake is on the team. st. louis and richards are a lock.

  24. le_sean says:

Well a few years ago he also set the modern day record for GAA, although that was broken by Kipper last season. I was talking about from the games I see. He either is an average goalie, or completely steals the game, that’s why I would have him second.

Actually, I was thinking that I would want José Théodore on the team, but I know how many negative responses I would get for that comment lol. He has a pretty crappy defence and has looked shaky at times too, however (maybe it’s just me) if you put that Team Canada jersey on him, I have a feeling he would be outstanding (although that is just a hunch).

  25. penguinos66 says:

    Primeau? Peca? Nash? Tanguay!?

Everything looks alright there except for those 4 players and the line combos.

The 4 players mentioned at the top have all had dissapointing seasons, where Nash has played maybe 1 game? how can you decide his olympic destiny based on 1 game this season and 41 goals 2 yrs ago! I think I’ve seen Peca mentioned only has trade bait with the oil, and Tanguay is having a decent season, but i still dont think he deserves a spot. At least your defence pairings made sense, but thats pretty much written in stone.

    gagne-spezza-heatley

    iginla-sakic-richards

    staal-lecavalier-thornton

    draper-marleau-smyth

    same defence

    reverse luongo with joseph

I think this is a good mix of veteran canadaian talent, mixed with the next generation of candaian players.

  26. penguinos66 says:

    i spelled canadian wrong twice

  27. penguinos66 says:

where’s niedermeyer??? he’s obviously guranteed a spot?? mccabe, doubtful.
