LIGHTNING PULL KUBINA OFF ICE 'TO PROTECT TEAM'S INTERESTS'
The Tampa Bay Lightning may be ready to make a move before the NHL trade deadline.
The team sent out a tweet during Thursday’s morning skate, leading to speculation that a trade may be in the works involving defenceman Pavel Kubina.
“Kubina being held off the ice to protect the team’s interests. Has been asked for teams he would be willing to move to,” read the tweet from @TBLightning.
Kubina is in the final year of a two-year contract he signed with the Lightning in 2010 with an annual average value of $3.85 million. He is slated to become an unrestricted free agent at season’s end.
