Lindros getting attention

For a long time it’s been figured that at the end of the 2004 season Eric Lindros would become a Leaf. A summer went by, and though more and more rumors came out, nothing was official, but that could be because of three other teams possibly courting “The Big E”.The four teams are all in need of a big centreman.

Edmonton: The Oilers would apparently want Lindros or Jason Allison as a replacement for Petr Nedved. I don’t like this rumor, because why would a team need a replacement for a player that played 12 games for them? Allison seems more likely, because he’s getting less attention. Though it should be noted that Craig McTavish and Eric Lindros played together in Philadelphia.

Detroit: The Wings are apparently looking at Lindros because he’s a cheap forward. The article I read (Sorry I forget which paper, I just know I read it on the internet) said that Eric Lindros loved the city, and was good friends with Steve Yzerman. This doesn’t make sense for 2 reasons. Yzerman isn’t that kind of guy, and who likes Detroit? If you step into Detroit you get shot. It just doesn’t make sense.

Toronto: Toronto seems to make alot of sense, it’s where his agent/dad wants him to play, the Leafs need a centreman, and Pat Quinn loves him. The Leafs may be focused on locking up Nieuwnedyk, Roberts, and Leetch though, something they should probably do before even considering Lindros.

Calgary: The Flames are in need of a replacement for Craig Conroy, and it would be very conveniant to scoop up Lindros, considering it would also screw the Oilers out of a centreman. I also believe Lindros and Iginla would play well together. Stevens prolly needs to play in the west because it’s not as strong a conference, and in Calgary, he’d be on the next Stevens (Dion Phaneuf. Met him, he’s cool, says he’ll take out Ovechkin!!) team, instead of against him.

So my pick is probably Toronto or Calgary for now, but another team may be able to scoop him up.
