Lots of big name players on the trade market

On the trade front, there is a ton of activity leading up to Sunday’s Draft.

The teams and players in play is seemingly growing by the hour.

Names like Dion Phaneuf, David Perron, Dave Bolland, Ales Hemsky, Shawn Horcoff and Roberto Luongo are all notables, and all are available for the right price. Not to mention Pittsburgh’s Kris Letang, who could get moved if an agreement with the Penguins isn’t reached in the days ahead.

The Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs are eager to make change and both Dave Nonis and Craig MacTavish are working hard to do just that. Neither wants to disrupt their young core, but both are willing to consider just about anything to address their needs.

Two hungry teams…eager to prey on those having to cut payroll to comply with next year’s salary cap.

As the GM’s gather in or near New Jersey for the Draft, trade discussions will shift to negotiations as what appears to be hockey’s perfect storm gains momentum.
