Man of his word?!?

According to … Pavel Datsyuk is now offically in Russia. The article states that the main reason he is staying is because he must “..fulfill my duties in front (of) Avangard. By that I mean my one-year contract.”

So what does this mean? Did Kenny Holland finally get the ammount of money Dats wanted? And if so, Is Datsyuk just sort of making the Red Wings pay for taking their time? Reports were the contract had 2 years at 3.8 million. What happened to wanting Thorton money? Do you think think that this will hurt or help his shares in the NHL?

He was crafty but as most people know I am all for letting moody Russains play in Russia… Greedy, disinterested and no heart. Talent out the Whaazoo but that doesn’t make you one of my favourites by itself…

Granted, not ALL Russains are like that… there was Chubarov and… um… Chubarov… It’s kinda hard to think of Russains with heart…

I would put Konstantinov in the Russian with heart category too and maybe Larionov although Larionov was not much of a physical presence he came to play every night and also fought and bloodied Forsberg in the Claude Lemieux payback for Draper in one of the games too lol

I will be happy when the Datsyuk situation will be over…either play with the Wings or stay in Russia but make up your mind…i know he is waitting for the arbitration hearing in Russia to find out where he can or will play but get it over and done with already

I do hope he is gone for good. Whatever talent he has is not worth the BS he has put out.

Let him stay in russia hes very greedy

This is old news, nothing new has happened yet except for the fourthperiod just now getting ahold of it. He wants to play for Omsk but not Moscow, he signed a 1 year deal with Omsk but Moscow claimed they had the right to match, Omsk refuted that. All he’s waiting on now is for the Russian Super Leage arbitrator to decide where he goes, Omsk or Moscow. If it’s Omsk then he’s gone for the year, if it’s Moscow, he’ll leave and come play for Detroit. I think he’s as good as gone though, the arbitrator there knows it’s better for the Russian league to have Pavel than not to and knowing that he’ll leave if Moscow wins the arbitration it’s a good bet on which way the arbitrator will decide.

Mogilny leaps out in my mind as a russian with heart. Considering the b.s. he went through when he defected.

the big 5 (larianov, Makarov, Krutov, Fetisov and Kasatonov were bred to be winners and not the contract monsters that come out of russia today. Back with the old class Russia was battling to be tops of the hockey world against canada so there was alot of playing for pride and play to win there. Then the NHL helped Federov, Molgilny and guys like that defect and how does Federov repay the wings? He demands a huge contract then when he gets it he leaves for anaheim. The russian hockey pride if almost dead now thanks to Datsyuk, Kovalchuk etc…They can stay and russia and let there NHL value drop cuz none of us will even know if they win the Russian league scoring title. How did Tverdovsky do in russia the past few years????? no clue

Pavel does have heart remember… 2 yrs ago he signed with the wings below his market value (well i think it was,)?? he repaid the wings by scoring 30+ goals and making the all-star team. He proved himself and now the discount for the wings are over. SO PAY UP KENNY!! As for Iilya, I’m still hoping the Rangers go after him despite giving up those 4 first rounders. A Jagr-Kovalchuk combo would be scary.

What is it with these Russians??

Yashin, Fedorov, Bure, Malakhov, Datsiuk are all players who gave headaches to their GMs… I’m pretty sure there are plenty of others, can’t remember… Any names guys?

Hockey is a job just liek any other job, i would rather get payed more to play in my hometown/country, then to get payed yes because i played for a team in the USA for 2 or 3 years.

I think everyone bashes him because they are more disapointed that he wont’ be in the NHL this year.

Would you think the same of him if he left Russia because of more money in the NHL. No you would say it was a good choice because the NHL is superior.
