There was a time Lafleur, when Orr would actually make a big impact on the odd game with his physical presence, his dominant fighting, and intimidation, but since that concussion he's pretty much done I think. Too bad, because he was one of the best in the league at what he did.
How exactly do you outlaw staged fighting I'm sure there would be a blurry line their somewheres. A fight off a face-off doesn't mean it was staged it was likely brewing all game with but no good opportunity to go until the a face-off.

The recent fights all Leafs fans loved where Orr vs Carkner. Those were all staged fights they knew long before the game they where going to fight each other. It seems to me with an old school GM like Burke placing his own traditional enforcer on waivers that there is no need to legislate it out. It's dying on it's own.

As for a 10 minute penalty I think that's counter productive. The only players left to fight will be the 4th liners. If a star player or even productive player fough that's 10 minutes off the ice. No player of consequence will fight anymore and it will be reduced to a 4th line role again.
Or Toronto had the biggest bunch of b*tches and were not only losing but getting hammered and injured every game. Colton Orr didn't end the losing but he sure made other teams think twice after KOing the top tough guys in the league.
I never got the Colton Orr signature in the first place.

Toronto had one of the worst PK in the league so the solution is: Lets sign one of the most penality taker in the league?

Success garantee!
Staged fighting I don't think will last past the CBA (and I sort of think the CBA will get pushed a year, by the extension clause they have). It's just pointless and the whole idea of it is moronic.

But fighting itself will stay I think. Maybe a more severe penalty will be handed out. Say a 10 minute fighting major? That should restrict it but still when emotions come out it will happen.
