Marc-Andre Fleury trade interests Wild, report says
If the Pittsburgh Penguins reverse course and decide that they’ve had enough of Marc-Andre Fleury—though there’s no indication that’s going to happen—they have at least one potential trade partner.
The Minnesota Wild “expressed interest” in Fleury, who at the moment is a slightly above-average regular-season goalie that self-destructs in the postseason, according to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.
He was benched during Pittsburgh’s run to the Eastern Conference finals in favor of Tomas Vokoun and has a sub-.900 save percentage over the last four postseasons, but that didn’t stop coach Dan Bylsma or GM Ray Shero from expressing confidence in him earlier this month.
“We were in a situation where Tomas Vokoun went into net and won the third and fourth games of a series for us and continued to play in our net,” Bylsma said. “But Marc-Andre Fleury is a guy who’s going to come back to our team and he’s going to be the No. 1 goalie. He’s going to be the franchise goalie. He’s going to be this franchise’s goalie.”
