Marco Sturm of the Boston Bruins is hotly rumored to be on the trade block. With less than two weeks until the trade deadline and with a flurry of trades behind us it is only a matter of time before more players are moved.

Although not specifically mentioned as to where he may be going in the following article some rumors have him going to the Canucks while others have him going to the Wings.

Eklund is forecasting he is moving to Canucks

I hate to bring up the Thornton trade again. It is well known fact that former Bruins GM Mike O'Connell is an idiot. What I didn't realize at the time of that trade back in 2005 was the players Boston received Sturm, Primeau & Stuart were all UFA at the end of this season. It truely makes that deal twice as bad. I can't believe we couldn't lock up any of these players. How do hockey minds like O'Connell end up with GM jobs or any jobs? Wow !

I really hope Sturm stays in Boston. He is quality, a two way player, offensive touch and blazing speed. Once again for the 3rd year in a row, it looks like Boston is cleaning house and then going to sign new free agents and have ZERO chemistry.

I am starting to have second thoughts of this salary cap in some ways. For true loyal fans of a certain team, it is a shame that there is so much movement, players jumping around from team to team.

Eklund’s forecasting is as accurate as last year’s hurricane season for Florida. They got none.

  4. neilios says:

Iam hearing Vancouver too for Grabner and 2nd rounder,so that wasnt a bad trade for the Bruins at all they get Ference,KObasew, and Grabner.Plus once they got rid of big Joe they got to sign Chara and Savard I know they aint no Thornton though but might be a power house soon they are a young team still.

  5. MogilnyFan1990 says:

why would a team trade for someone that is – 18?   hes getting paid 2.1 mil a year, and hes a ufa at seasons end right?  and he only has 27 points…  man what a bargain player! omg… vancouver will be one lucky team…  NOT!

  6. Lint07 says:

I think he'd be a perfect and affordable pick up for the Pens.

  7. bleedingblu says:

I heard the Habs were after him.

  8. Lint07 says:

chances of Boston trading a player (whose name isn't Patrick Traverse) to Montreal are about slim to none.

  9. thegoalie1976 says:

    What about this trade:

    To Oilers

Chara and UFA Sturm, 2nd rounder

    To Bruins

Torres, M.A. Bergeron, Jason Smith, Pouliot and a 1st  rounder (from  ANA in Pronger trade)

Note: all the players Boston is getting are RFA or under contract. Nobody will be leaving in a year like the Thornton trade.

  10. Mr_Canuck says:

i really hope we're not trading grabner and a pick for sturm! maybe if we had him signed we can do it, but to lose him and grabner would be tough. i'd rather give up a couple picks.

  11. OldGoalie says:

Only if they can acoid getting into a bidding war for him after the season is over.  A rental is a pointless acquisition for the Pens at this point in my opinion, and they wouldn't want to pay much more for Sturm than he currently makes.  But conceptually, yeah, he'd be a nice fit.

  12. jonnygf40 says:

Where have you heard this?  Its never going to happen.  Nonis isnt dumb enough to trade the Canucks third ranked prospect, and highest offensive prospect and a second rounder for a rental player.  Maybe a second round pick by itself… even that would be high.

  13. rangers914 says:

i dont think edmonton has teh cap and ANA prob high 20s 1st rounder wont be nearly enough and thts about the only thing out of those players i would want and your giving up 3 un proven prospects who could turn out to be superstars as sturm leaves and you trade 3 prospects AND a 1st rounder for chara and a 2nd rounder

and the draft pick swap depending on final standings could end up only moving boston up about 10 spots because its obvious anaheim will finish near the top

  14. solace242 says:

Bos: Marco Sturm & a late round pick

    for

Van: Matt Cooke & Jan Bulis

  15. mcpickl says:

Boston laughs in your general direction.

    Chara? LOL

  16. broc says:

Jan Bulis for the absolute last pick in any NHL draft, ever.

  17. halgillfan says:

    I'm eklund

the only reason i'm halgillfan on here is because someone already had eklund

so i just used my favourite player from my favourite team as my name

and yes, if your wondering, I also heard the rumors of Sturm to Vancouver from one of my many credible sources
