Matt Bartkowski, prospect Alexander Khokhlachev, and a first-round draft pick for Iginla?

With speculation that Iginla could be headed to the Boston Bruins, McKenzie added that defenceman Matt Bartkowski, prospect Alexander Khokhlachev, and a first-round draft pick could be headed to Calgary in return.

I can’t believe the Flames got this little for Jarome!

It can’t be true can it?

  2. leafs_wallace93 says:

The playoffs for the Leafs are going to suck if Boston gets Ignila.

  3. leafs_wallace93 says:

Gord Miller just said that the 1st rounder is conditional on Ignila resigning in Boston.

So it could potentially be a former 7th round prospect and a 2nd round prospect for Ignila. Between that and what Columbus got for Nash… I wouldn’t want to be in the selling mode. Hell Pittsburg gave up more for Murray.

    • Gambo says:

Feaster should be fired. First he drafts a nobody with his 1st round pick last year, then fucks up with the O’Rielly situation and now a conditional 1st?! Not to mention the rebuild is way overdue.

I would hate to be a Calgary fan.

I know Chicago is in the conference…But certainly they offered more then Boston.

Also, can Pitt get a re-do on the Morrow trade. Dallas got more for him then CAL got for Iginla.

Looks like it’s a bad year for Rentals considering Burke was offered a first for Clarke, Schenn, Kuly, and Grabo.

This also proves that many teams are protecting their first round picks…You know…That thing Wallace wants to throw away for nothing.

    • leafs_wallace93 says:

If the Leafs win the cup you’d still be the tool whining about how it’ll hurt their draft position.

      • LN91 says:

But Toronto’s not going to win the cup.

You only trade when you’re about to contend…Pitt is going all in because their is some belief in the organization that it will be harder to compete after this.

        Toronto’s a 6th seed at best….You can’t put up a fie sale of assets.

        • leafs_wallace93 says:

And you’re not going to get a franchise center outside of having a top three overall pick.

The Leafs could have put together a better package than Pittsburgh and been in the thick of things.

They’re is no hard and fast rule of when to trade assets. If you’re competitive make a deal.

No one said fire sale on assets, you hick.

          • LN91 says:

You said 2 first rounders for Loui Erikkson.

You clearly have no knowledge of this game.

Even with Iginla, you expect Toronto to jump into elite status? No, they would not be.

Once again, you have proven you have no knowledge about the management side of this game.

            • leafs_wallace93 says:

I don’t know the game? Big talk from a guy who is posts under a troll account….

Great winger in the prime of his career locked up with at a good cap hit or… a couple nothing prospects like Colbourne and Biggs….

Again the East is weak, elite teams get knocked out every post season. It’s a wasted year to just fold while the Leafs could make a run.

You’re just a pussy that cries that the team isn’t built the way you want it.

Go cheer for Columbus with all those nothing draft picks they’ve developed.

              • LN91 says:

                Once again, you know nothing.

East is weak…But guess what, Toronto’s record against the 3 division leaders right now is poor in itself. Toronto got win agaisnt a depleted Bruins team…Woohoo?

Eriksson is an upgrade but not enough to compete with the elite of the East.

Yeah, I ain’t happy about how the Leafs are built. You know why? It is not strong enough to ever win a cup.

Ask any fan in the league…If they had Kessel/Phaneuf as their core…They would probably say nah.

                • leafs_wallace93 says:

Depeleted? Sidenberg gone, wow a 2nd pairing blueline such a loss. The Leafs didn’t have Lupul in that win. Whatever, it’s the regular season anyway.

Eriksson could be a core piece, news flash, it’s a long shot to find one in the draft. Eriksson isn’t rental and would be a sure addition.

You don’t know hockey if you think out four teams in the league have a shot at the cup.

Again you reduce a team to two players, that’s narrow minded idiocy, again proof that you only watch highlights and don’t understand the game.

        • leafs_wallace93 says:

Not to mention all the crying for Doug Gimour, those glory years the Leafs finished 3rd in their division which is the equivalent of a 6th seed, I suppose Fletcher would have been better served to trade Fuhr for picks instead of Anderchyuk, huh?

          • LN91 says:

You’re talking about the early 90’s. The entire league is different now. Only contending teams trade their top-pick.

Not teams that classify themselves as rebuilding like Toronto still is.

            • leafs_wallace93 says:

That Leaf team would have fit under the cap. They had two veteran superstars… Gilmour and Anderchyuk. I’m sure if they were message boards you’d be crying rebuild because Todd Gill and Dave Ellet weren’t an ‘elite’ pair.

Uhhhh okay, Iginla to the Penguins now..

I can already hear the sounds of everyone jumping off the blackhawks bandwagon onto the penguins.

I’m happy for Iggy, woulda had to hate him if he was a Bruin. Now i just have to congratulate him. Hopefully he brings the cup back to his summer home in Kelowna 😀

  6. leafy says:

Which now makes the Pens the clear favorites if they stay healthy.

  7. nordiques100 says:

What a terrible deal by the Flames. Feaster should be fired.

  8. realistic_leafs_fan says:

Iginla for a late first, former 3rd and 5th round prospects.

I know some thought it wasn’t enough when I said the Kings could offer Bernier, King and a 2nd but I think Bernier straight up may be better than what the Flames got from Pittsburgh. I honestly didn’t think Calgary would hit the “home-run” for Iginla, but I thought they would get better than what they got.

    • doorman says:

I am not defending Feaster at all as this is a horrible deal, IMO. However if what some say is true and Iggy pushed for Pitt out of the four teams in the end, well I can partially understand. It left him not dealing from a position of strength bbut, I would have thought they would get at least one prospect for there fans they might recognize, lol. Well here is wishing Iggy the best.

      • realistic_leafs_fan says:

I get what you’re saying DM about the bind Feaster may have been in, but like you said…what do Calgary fans have to look forward to?

        • doorman says:

Cheering for Iggy on a cup run again? lol. I still think feaster could have done better, I mean the Pens paid more for Morrow, lol. Some have said that Flames asst GM was Bruins head of college scouting so maybe he knows something we don’t lol?

  9. 93killer93 says:

The Pens are without a doubt the favourites to win now. they added 3 major pieces without giving anything off their roster.

    Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla
    Morrow-Malkin-Neal
    Cooke-Sutter-Dupuis
    Jeffrey-Kennedy-Adams
    (Glass)

    Murray-Letang
    Orpik-Martin
    Despres-Niskanen
    (Eaton, Engelland)

    Fleury
    Vokoun

Phew, was really scared to see go to Boston as he’d give Boston another dimension that team sorely lacks but the Pens? Pittsburgh’s problem is that they can’t keep the puck out of the net, Jerome doesn’t solve that issue. I won’t be surprised to see the Pens get Halaked again this off season.

  12. coyotes_bettman says:

Does this become a “bad hockey deal” if Iginla resigns on July 5th with the Flames? It’s a very good possibility that this might happen if Pittsburgh wins and lets be realistic next year the Pens are going to be in Salary cap hell they’re not going to resign Iggy, like what happened with Tkachuk and Weight when they were traded from the Blues for their respective playoff rentals with the Hurricanes and Thrashers?
