Mighty Ducks report

And from a 2 week delay, heres the next Mighty Ducks report for this weeks action.

Back from the Torino Olympics, the ducks that participated in those Olympics were honnered before the wednesday game against the Red Wings. Teemu Selanne, Sammy Pahlsson, Sandis Ozolinsh, Ilya Bryzgalov were all honnered as well as Scott Niedermayer and Jonathan Hedstrom even though they did not play a game during the Olympics. And to the ice – the ducks played a decent game… just decent. Jean-Sebastien Giguere played a great game but the team just did not help him that much. They failed to get 1 goal in the entire game and they lost the game 2-0. Tomas Holmstrom and Henrik Zetterberg each had a goal.

Next up for the week: The Wild, the Wild are a good team even though not alot of ppl are known on their team. The Ducks know not to take them lightly and thats exactly what they did. The Ducks played a great defensive game through the whole game. It was still scoreless in the 2nd until Sammy Pahlsson scored a bad angle shot when Roloson made a bad play, the goal was SH. Corey Perry scored on a slapshot in the dieing seconds of the 2nd as well. The game was tied 2-2 in the 3rd until Sandis Ozolinsh got the goal to give the ducks the lead. Then later Teemu Selanne sealed the deal when he got an empty net goal. The ducks won the game 4-2.

The ducks then played the Blue Jackets on Sunday at the Pond and it was a battle of the goalies, where J-S Giguere stopped 32 of 34 shots faced and Leclaire stopped 43 of 45 shots. Ryan Getzlaf and Andy McDonald each had a goal. It was a close game through the whole game but in the end the Blue Jackets came out with the victory. Rick Nash scored the winner in a shootout. Ahhh, the ducks loose another in a shootout.. who would have thunk it?
