Mike Brophy tid bit on Kaberle

The New Jersey Devils are weak on the blueline and the Toronto Maple Leafs are in the market for a top-six forward. Shouldn’t they be talking a little Tomas Kaberle? In fact, I have heard that is exactly the case. We all know Leafs GM Brian Burke has indicated he would honour Kaberle’s no-movement clause, but we also know Kaberle gave Toronto a list of teams that he would consider being sent to in a trade. You’d have to think Burke would be able to put pressure on Kaberle to accept a deal if the Devils offered him a quality forward.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO, more Kaberle rumours here we go again!!! Ok, for the record i don't see the leafs trading him, yet. He is playing too well with Schenn and overall. I think Burke explores trades for other dman and unloads him as a last resort!! Just my humble opinion though and I am wrong several times a day….lol. Besides the Devils like other teams are cap satrapped badly, Burke along with others are not going to throw life preservers….they are gonna cirlce like sharks and hope to prey!!!

Alright if you look out your window you may see the leafs changing color that is a indication that it is fall, The No trade clause is in effect last time I checked then. Also ARE YOU DUMB? Kabs is hands down our best Dman and sure we could bring in some top 6 but at what cost? Well we lose a guy who can make anyone better and also the ONLY dman who can move the puck up the ice. Unless Gunnar can some how get back to his state from last year and can become the top 4 we know he his then I don't want to see kabs gone.

You want a top 6? then wait for a team to go in desperation mode.

Im gonna disagree and say Schenn has been our best dman to date but kaberle has definitely been great and would prefer too keep him as long as we can and would not be disgrunted if he either was traded for a legit top 3 player or given a contract extension

I dont see any "legit" top 3 guys being involved in a trade  fpr Kabs outside of maybe Richards, besides him, any possible options aren't in that "legit" ranking…. they may have the potential but arent at that level yet… i.e Backes and yes even Ryan… although Ryan is closer to a top 3 guy than backes………

I would agree with the original comment. Kaberle has been hands down the best Leaf this year along with Phil Kessel, followed closely behind by Luke Schenn.

I can't see us winning more games by trading Kaberle for…. I don't know, who would NJ give up?

Let's say its Zajac. That could be interesting, but is Zajac really that much better than Bozak? Other guys like Langenbrunner, Rolston, Zubrus, Clarkson, Arnott are all good players but these are not top line guys and would not be worth bringing in for Kaberle.

Elias, Parise, Kovalchuk. These are top line guys and the only one who could be moved for Kaberle is Patrick Elias. So unless that's the trade, I don't see anything being done here.
