That would be my guess as well. I also think that the Flames organization lost confidence in Negrin and were probably going to let him walk at the end of the year and with the addition of Connelly were looking to move a defenseman off of the Heat..

No idea haha. That's funny. I would say its an Abbotsford move but since they happen to play with them...I guess they like his size?

Did you see the Flames / Jets trade John Negrin for Akim Aliu?

I find it funny that they were both playing for the same team (Abbotsford) when they were traded for each other (Aliu was on loan from St Johns).

Has there ever been another trade where teammates were traded for each other?

I don't think he will get the full amount of what he gave up but if he's smart about he could. IF he plays teams off each other, he might get a lot.

Specifically, I wonder if he could play Phoenix and Nashville off each other. Both would love a big scoring center (although he isn't exactly physical) to build their forward core around, and both have to love that not only is he young but he's signed for a long f'n time.

Plus both would have that young defensive stud to offer, seeing as Columbus covets that.

It's going to be interesting to see if Columbus moves Carter and what the return is. I'm sure Howson will want close to what he gave up to get him but I just don't see him being able to get it. That contract is long, however a change of scenery and a healthy Carter cold give a team a 40+ goal top center.
