He's 73, at that age things start to go.

I wouldn't go with it more than 2 years.

Let Fergy be, he is doing a great job!! There is already too many people above Fergy trying to control the team already. The more people the worse it is.

Terrible move, Muckler has lost touch with todays NHL, JFJ is starting to get the team in the position to be competetive for years.

It would be a great move.  JFJr needs a hockey guy to sound things off on.  Muckler built a team that has all he talent in he world that some crap coaches couldn't motivate to win.  I don't think Ottawa's problems were at the GM spot.  All of those coaches Ottawa had are classic for disappearing acts in the big games and so were the players.

With Muckler's two cents JFJr will be more confident, that would have to be a good thing.  As for JFJr, I like the move for Blake.  4 mil a year is a god deal for a guy that should hit 28-34 goals this year.  The best part is that he brings some more speed and the ability to play both ways, which is key for that defense and especially the penalty kill.  I hink the Lafs really improved themselves this year and, though I would have loved Ryan Smyth, there will be some good and youger free agents come available in he next two years and we have an extra 2 mill to play with.
Next up is to trade Raycroft and/or Gill (yes I know he was our best PK D-man) for something…like another pick in the 'deep' 2008 draft.  Or better yet a deal for a younger superstar with a bad contract…Richards?

This is absolutely ridiculous! Please fire JFJ and put him out of his misery!!! Any GM who would accept this demotion, because this is exactly what it is, should not be running an NHL team.  He has been in the role for 4 years and all of a sudden he's not good enough??? If this were you or I, or anyone else with a little bit of pride, we'd QUIT!!!
