Nedved on his way out of Phoenix?

According to this website, Petr Nedved, who hasn’t scored a goal since Oct. 25th, is possibly on his way out from Phoenix. Comments made by the head coach, Wayne Gretzky, have only strengthened this rumor.

The only question is, what Could the Coyotes get in return? Who would be willing to give up anything for what appears to be yet another overpaid and underproducing cap-trap? Let’s face it, Nedved’s better years are behind him, and he’s struggling in this new NHL. I don’t foresee any team’s having any interest in him. If the Isles hadn’t fired Milbury, he may have had a shot with them.

if not for the salary cap the leafs would have jumped all over this “oppertunity” giving up a high draft pick and/or one of their young players

  2. doanerfan says:

Not sure if this will happen or not now. GM Barnett told the that it will be up to Gretzky if he plays today or not. He also stated Nedved is not being benched leading up to a trade. Gretzky might let Nedved figure this one out on his own.

  3. Marky2Fresh says:

    Who are you quoting?

  4. JannettyTheRocker says:

All I know is, Petr Nedved is NOT welcome back in Edmonton. We don’t welcome back players who jump ship (ex. Mike Comrie, Jimmy Carson, Petr Nedved). Send Nedved to the ECHL or AHL to finish out his career. Would serve him right!!!!………………Yes, I hold a grudge.

  5. JannettyTheRocker says:

I’m pretty sure he’s just using his common sense. Seeing all the other dumbass moves the Leaf’s have made, it only makes sense that they’d jump all over this steaming pile of a deal. I say, Petr Nedved belongs in Toronto, with all the other washed-up has-beens.

  6. shakrmakr says:

You mean the has beens that beat your team? Your a joke buddy keep on running your mouth when the Oilers are out of the palyoffs again and the leafs are in!!

  7. shakrmakr says:

Nedved was the only reason why Edmonton almost made the playoffs last season!! You aren’t going to bank on natural third liners all season to score.

  8. zdeno_duchesne says:

with the ottawa senators looking for second line scoring, petr nedved could be a viable solution.

  9. RangerSteve says:

So you’re meaning to tell me you’d never welcome Gretzky back in an Oilers jersey if he were to play? What about Messier if he would have came back to Edmonton this past October.

  10. 24_cups_and_counting says:

Nedved hasn’t scored a goal since Oct.25th? I think an 8th rd. pick in 2025 should secure his services.

  11. SensfanVone says:

No lets wait for Dougie to come over and Nolan to sign with us lol…….

  12. JannettyTheRocker says:

HAHAHA………..You live in a fantasy world. It’s Oilers in, Leafs out…………That loss to the Leafs was a fluke, and nothing more. You’re just lucky you guys only face the Oilers once a year.

  13. JannettyTheRocker says:

Both the Messier and Gretzky trades weren’t those two guys *****ing and complaining, and demanding a trade, or tucking their tails between their legs and running south. Gretz and Mess were traded due to financial constraints, and nothing more than that. Our dumbass owner Peter Pocklington traded Gretzky for a handful of talent and $20,000,000. And Mess was traded due to the rising salaries, and the (at the time) poor economical constraints the Oilers were under…………….Guys like the ones I mentioned in my last post bolted town because they’re money hungry. Petr Nedved played 1/3 a season with the Oilers, before making the cash grab in Phoenix. Jimmy Carson was a little *****, who said he didn’t like it in Edmonton, and held out for a trade. And the biggest ***** of them all is Mike Comrie, who is a hometown Edmonton boy, and he held out for more money because he wanted to be paid like a top-line centre, when he still to this day hasn’t earned it………………Gretz, Mess, Doug Weight, Bill Guerin, and any other big name that were traded away were due to financial issues, and the choice to move these players were made by the Oilers organization………………But you can put Curtis Joseph in that money grubbing ***** category, because he jumped town for a big contract in Toronto.

SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION. I’d take Gretzky and/or Messier back anyday.

  14. shakrmakr says:

Lucky? No, we just have good goaltending and have guys that can finish unlike the Oilers. You guys got lucky with just a close game because the Oilers were playing against an injured McCabe and Tucker and a team playing back to back nights.

Yeah the Leafs are lucky to play the Oilers once a year right? lol. The Leafs have 13 wins and 2 losses in their last 15 games in Edmonton. Even the leafs farm team kick the Roadrunners ass last year 8 times when the Roadrunners had Stoll, Torres etc… on their team. lol. Idiot.

How many times are the Oilers going to play against other teams backup goaltenders? There is a reason why they do that and that is because opposing teams would sooner have their number one goalie play against good teams.

  15. shakrmakr says:

Actually your idiot GM could of signed Nedved, they had the money and also Nedved said he wanted to play in Edmonton. But the Oilers fans, media and team pulled out the money card again. What excuse are they going to use this year when they don’t make the playoffs? Salary cap? A warm winter in Edmonton? The bird flu? lol.

  16. wingerxxx says:

I can’t imagine a team actually trading anything for Nedved. I mean, why would you do it? He’s had rough injury problems this year, and he is not the player he once was. He used to be a pretty good second line center. Not anymore. He still has a great wrister, but he has lost a step.

I imagine that the media is saying he might go to the Rangers, which I find ridiculous. Those same people probably claim it’s because the Rangers have a lot of Czech players and the Nedved played well with Jagr in Pittsburgh. What they are forgetting is the Nedved played like garbage with Jagr in New York. Plus, we don’t need a player who mails in his performance in every other game. So forget about New York. We couldn’t fit him in under the cap anyway. Something tells me that if Phoenix really wants to get rid of him, they need to put him on waivers. I still can’t believe a team would be dumb enough to trade for him right now.

  17. wingerxxx says:

Doug Weight will be the much better alternative, and the Senators won’t have to trade much for him. I still think that Weight will end up in Ottawa.

  18. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

If they wanted old washed up vets theyd have signed Michael Peca

  19. skidragoon says:

you are blind… almost as blind as liberal voters but i dont know whats worse tax dollar stealers or a sore loser because his shit ass team lost.

  20. JannettyTheRocker says:

Nedved signed with the Coyotes BEFORE the lockout even began………The Oilers, along with most small market teams were waiting to see how the CBA panned out before signing players. Where did you hear he wanted to stay in Edmonton? I follow the Oilers VERY carefully, and this is the first I’ve heard of this. It’s funny because as soon as free agency began after the 2003-2004 season, Nedved signed with the Coyotes.

You’ve proven once again that what you say is worth shit. Get your facts straight before you post something, because now you look like an ass…

  21. JannettyTheRocker says:

    Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!! You’re so funny…….

  22. shakrmakr says:

There is a difference between following a team and knowing what is going on with your team. The Oilers were only 500,000 dollars off the Phoenix contract to get him. He said that he would of wanted to stay in Edmonton but Kevin Lowe didn’t want to match it. Yet he goes and signs a mucker for 3.5 million in Smyth!! Idiots!!

  23. neilios says:

During the Pittsburg and Canuck game last night they where saying Nedved,Gauthier,Boucher, and a pick going to Pitts for Palffy and Gonchar.

  24. JannettyTheRocker says:

That is such shit. The same day that free agency started in 2004, Petr Nedved signed with the Coyotes. He made it clear he wanted to play down south. Rumors were that he was heading to either Phoenix or LA before the playoffs were over. Show me a link for where you get your information. I think it’s funny that a Leaf’s fan claims to know more about the Oilers than an Oiler’s fan, especially when all you ever talk about is false information. You’re full of shit.

  25. RangerSteve says:

Deadved better not be coming back to New York. If he does, I hope he goes straight to Long Island. This guy is a cancer and isn’t even worth it.

NYR needs a true power play dman right now..which Nedved is not.

Man, if we have to trade and get Nedved, we can throw out this saying for the Rangers.

“New York Rangers Hockey 2006: Hockey with a little less Nedved”

  26. shakrmakr says:

Shows how much you know moron. Your allowed to talk to your player before free agency begins. Here’s an article proving you wrong and showing i’m right again.

Now he signed for 9.4 over 3 years with Phoenix but because of the roll back due to the NBA he is making 2.2 mil this year far cheaper then Smyth. Oilers shot themselves in the foot there.

By the way I’m an Oilers fan too but there is a difference between you and I. And that is that i know my hovkey and you don’t!!

  27. neilios says:

He is not going to the Rangers the Penguins want him Gauthier,Boucher, and a pick for Palffy and Gonchar and the Coyoteys want to make a playoff run.

  28. big_booty says:

“We don’t welcome back players who jump ship…”

    Oh, really?

Kevin Lowe pissed and moaned about not being paid back in ’92, forcing Glen Sather to deal him to New York for chump change.

Yet, he was welcomed back only four years later.

    Where’s your grudge now, slappy?

Oh, you must be too young to remember things like that. My bad.

  29. wingerxxx says:

Don’t worry, The Corpse won’t be making a return to NY. Slats was the one who got rid of him at the deadline in 03-04 when he was playing like crap, even alongside Jagr. He’s about finished.

  30. cecilturtle says:

Sorry, thought you were talking to me for a second. As a Rangers fan, I would think the Blueshirt faithfull would “Sherly” welcome Nedved back to MSG. Ya know MSG… “The worlds most famous Arena!” Quick question, I know the Phantoms play at the Old Forum – Rocky made that place famouse. What is the “current” name of the “New” Forum where the Flyers play today? It seems to change every year I mean who could remember all ready? Anyway, Would you agree that Nedved would fit in better with the Rangers than any other team in the NHL? Prucha plays as good on the 3rd & 4th lines as he does the 1st and 2nd lines. Nedved would jump right in with his fellow countrymen on the top 2 lines as if he played with them the whole year and its not like he’s going to cost much in return. To quote Flavor Flave – old timer… “Yah boy!” Well Booty Boy, the New York Rangers & The Philadelphia Flyers are a rivalry again… Gotta love it! I’m just glad there is NO Lindros and LeClair to deal with this time!
