  2. habsoverserver says:

    good points.

  3. beckfan05 says:

I dont know which franchise is worse. The Islanders or the Jets.

    And I dont mean Winnepeg.

  4. habsoverserver says:

do you think garth snow can handle the mechanics of being gm – signings, negotiations, roster moves?

  5. habsoverserver says:

Reminds me of the day Houle became Habs’ gm.

  6. goleafsgo1991 says:

    amen to that

  7. mush124 says:

I guess these type of people dont only have trouble driving, get your head checked and your eyes unaquinted mr wang. you are fool and a discrace to the nhl.

  8. habswinthecup-again says:

Garth Snow is a GM in name only. He is nothing more than a figure head.

  9. nordiques100 says:

i feel terrible for former isle legends lafontaine, trottier and morrow. i mean they all came back and really are part of this ridiculous organization. associating themselves with clowns like milbury is and embarassment to them.

they should take down those banners than hang on the top of nassah county coliseum as the current team should never, ever be associated with that dynasty of the early 80s.

No wonder few in the US take the NHL seriously. No wonder so many newspapers and TV completely cut out NHL coverage. Because when there is good stuff that happens, almost right away something stupid, foolish and embarassing happens right after.

  10. Scruffy05 says:

Basically the Islanders just fired the boss and replaced him with the mail clerk. How badly do you have to suck as a GM to be replaced by your backup goalie?

  11. nyrhockey25 says:

and in other news jagr retired and became the new rangers gm

  12. BlueOrangeWhite says:

i think wang is insane, and WANG has to go – BUT that doesn’t mean that snow can’t “handle” the position.

snow no doubt is a smart guy or he would not have even been considered.

but still wang is nuts. committee rule is not how you run a hockey team. and a rookie gm at this point does not seem like a good idea.

i SERIOUSLY would have been happier with milbury being reinstated as gm!

  13. BlueOrangeWhite says:

this is the funniest line on here of all time!

  14. dcz28 says:

The only way this makes any sense is if Wang really wants to lose money with the hockey team to offset some of the money he makes with his other company…the worst thing isn’t really that they fired Smith so soon but that they replace him with a crappy backup goalie Garth “cover the rest of the net with big equipment” Snow…Snow doesn’t know what a scorer really is since everyone in the NHL could score on him.

I feel bad for Islanders fans since they have to deal with an owner that has plenty of money but seems to be too involved for a guy that doesn’t have a clue in hell on how a good franchise is built…with Snow as GM the Islanders will be the joke of the NHL this season and it will take one hell of a dumb move by another franchise to take that crown away from the Islanders this season.

  15. intothevoid001 says:

jfj is now ranked the 29th best gm in the league HA! i hate that guy

  16. leafsrule1967 says:

the new york islanders went from worse to worse they have a new gm who knows jack about being a general manager i have said once i’ll say it again the islanders making the playoffs this year just became a pipe dream as for nolan maybe there was a reason why no other team did not want him as long as mad mike is in the only way the islanders will see the playoffs is on tv garth snow as the new gm lmao good luck you will need it maybe if he fails you can hire the clubs mascot as the new gm after

  17. JannettyTheRocker says:

Hey guys, somebody (unknown) sent this to my email address, asking me to post them on htr………They’re pictures of the new general manager of the NY Islanders, Garth Snow. I didn’t see the harm, so here they are…..take a look. I’m really not sure why they were sent to me, but whatever.

  18. Peguiny says:

nope sparky is in the running for coach

  19. ThomasHawks says:

For me its clear a DG who does mistake like Milbury did in the last couple of years(Luongo,Spezza…)Woulden last long in the NHL.So explain y Mike Milbury could of keep is job for so long with the Islanders + he gets a promotion to become the vp by Mister Charlie Wang?

The awnsers is clear Wang is the one who was telling to Milbury wish player to get and witch one to trade. On his side Mike was willing to do everything that Wang was asking to him.Mister Wang is a great bizness man but not a great hockey man.

Probably that Neil Smith saw that in the last month even if Wang told him that we wont ever make hockey decision in the future. Then Smith dident want to do was Mike Milbury did, Wang dident like so today Smith is Fired. This is a good thing for Neil cuz he keeps is reputation and he may go on a team that is really serious.Nolan was hired by Wang not by Smith.

Im really sorry for the Iles fans cuz they deserve more than that.Mr Wang as no respect for the NYI History.Y hires a guy like Snow, who has no experience by tha way, when u have guys like Butch Goring, Lorne Henning, Dennis Potvin, Mike Bossy, Bob Nystrom, John Tonelli,Bob Bourne, Clark Gillies, the Sutters, they would be Honore to be part of the Iles again. These are guys who could bring some respect to the team.Look what the Habs did in the last years with Carbo,Muller,Gainey they bring back respect to the team.

… Punctuation will save us all:P

  21. ranger_fan says:

Scew you, there is nothing wrong with the NY Football Jets.

  22. Air33 says:

    ya really…

  23. Doctor says:

more like how much of a carnival is your organazation to do so? imagine the rangers doing it? it wouldn’t happen. we are no circus act.

the islanders are a pit organization that rivals only the 76ers and toronto maple leaves for the title of most poorly run sports franchise in north america.

in a way, nobody is worse than the islanders considering their lack of quality youth.

  24. Doctor says:

    I don’t know what’s funnier, the Jet’s offense or the Islander’s defense?

  25. Doctor says:

I truly think smith was trying to get rid of yashin. Could Yashin have struck again?

  26. mikster says:

    This just in…

Garth Snow, now a GM, will attend a meeting with other general managers to talk about NHL rules. Garth Snow is looking to introduce football (American football) shoulder guards for goaltenders to use.

What is going on here!? I felt supportive of the Isle’s getting Smith and Nolan, yet….right away they screw it up.

But hey, let’s not make a fnal judgement on this messed up ordeal. Maybe Snow really knows his stuff and manages to do a pretty good job.

I’me very skepticle about this move, i don’t like it, but hey….ya never know.

It is funny, though, how Snow became GM before Roy was ever interviewed for a GM position.

  27. nordiques100 says:

it is now being reported on TSN that pat lafontaine has resigned his position as senior advisor. he has had such a clean cut nice guy image throughout his career it comes as no surprise he does not want to be part of this utter joke that has become the isles.

  28. kyle88 says:

the new report says that LaFontaine is leaving also….hmmm I would say that is a sign as to how good the new GM is.

I do not have anything against snow as a person, But even this story is absurd to no end. At least now when someone says something bad about the maple leafs, I can just recall this moment in history(kidding) I feel for you islander fans.

  29. ThomasHawks says:

Lafontaine give his demission to mr Wang.Funny

  30. ThomasHawks says:

    Whos the next after Lafontaine??Trottier

  31. nordiques100 says:

just reading what wang said is hilarious. he asks what snow wants to do after his playing career. well mr wang maybe i want to be a GM or something.

it’s like when a grown up asks some 5 year old what he wants to be when he grows up and he answers a fireman or astronaut.

it’s almost going to be foolish enough to be like that movie little big league except without the happy ending.

  32. gtweb says:

Right now there are 29 NHL General Managers trying desperately to contact Mr. Snow to see if he feels like making a trade during his first day on the job…

  33. beckfan05 says:

    Whos the QB this season?

  34. beckfan05 says:

Dont you mean Kevin Weeks? 😉

  35. Air33 says:

Im still waiting for someone to say that they like the changes made. lol

  36. EmptyNetter says:

Holy crap! Yashin is married to Carol Alt? What is it with that woman and New York hockey players?

  37. tomahack says:

Damn, did you figure ROY as GM of Islanders ? With WANG and milbury on his ass.. lolll

    Never…forget it..Roy’s not a fool.

  38. crozky says:

If shrewd is another word for stupid, then you are right it is as shrewd as it gets

  39. Hollywood666 says:

You may want to read the post again, but sloooowwer this time.

  40. FlamingHomer says:

This whole thing better be a stepping stone to something that actually makes sense. There is no way the Islanders can open the season in this position.

  41. kicksave856 says:

Cripes! Now I want him to be the gm of my team. A whole new respect.

  42. kicksave856 says:

By the way, there is definitely some oversized equipment in those pictures.
