NHL News Update

Here is everything being reported by TSN for now:1) John LeClair has broken his foot and will be out for 2-4 weeks…

2) Jarome Iginla is the new captain for the Flames, as Craig Conroy thought he was the perfect guy for the job.

3) The ‘Nucks have signed Mike Keane

4) John Muckler has given Havlat until Thursday, then the offer is off the table.

5) Jean-Sebastien Aubin has been placed on waivers because Fleury has been put on the active roster. (Thats gotta suck, being shipped away from your team, so they can use a kid instead of you…)

I sure hope they know what they’re doing with Fleury, that kid could be huge, but he could be wasted if out out too early. Ah, what am I saying I hate the Pens anyway.

  2. Zamboni says:

If nothing else, he’s got Lemeiux around as a mentor for the year, that can’t hurt, even if he does get lit up on the ice.

  3. Treva says:

What about Jere Lehtonen or however he spells his name??!?!?! I care because I hate to see it when players are hurt, and because he is in one of my pools.

And how will Lemueix, a Forward, be a mentor for Fleury, a Goalie? “Don’t worry kid, I have scored on lots of goalies, how do you think they feel?”

  4. Zamboni says:

If you can’t figure out how having one of the greatest players of all time around to show him the ropes is going to help this kid on your own, it’s obviously not worth even trying to explain it to you.

  5. CaptainModano says:

Lehtinen’s day to day….just hurt his shoulder, nothing more. Shouldn’t be out for a week even

  6. Treva says:

Mario will be doing this for the whole team, I appreciate what he can do on a social/emotional level, but what about skill (goalie) wise. Who is the goaltending coach for Pitsburg anyway?

  7. Zamboni says:

Pretty sure their goalie coach is Lorne Mulleken, but don’t quote me on that, I could be wrong. You’re right, Mario isn’t going to do a thing for the kid in terms of goalie skills, but to be there as a guy from the same background (highly touted French-Canadian #1 pick) with all the experience he has to share is going to be good for the kid.

I’ve gotten the impression that’s the only reason he’s still playing, hoping to impart some of his wisdom and experience onto the younger guys before he hangs it up for good.

True, but Mario’s not a goaltender. It would be different if he had a solid vet Goalie around to help him out.
