NHL teams look to deal

The trade market is finally starting to heat up.

A day after the NHL’s 30 GMs sat down in Toronto to discuss the state of the game, the table started to be set for deals with the deadline set for April 3.

“There’s no shortage of teams trying,” said a league executive Thursday afternoon. “Lots of teams are talking, there just aren’t many that are willing to throw in the white towel and accept the fact they’re not going to make the playoffs.

“There are a lot of teams talking. We’ll see if it leads to anything.”

As the Sun reported Tuesday, Senators GM Bryan Murray is looking for a top-6 forward. It’s believed San Jose winger Ryane Clowe is on the club’s radar screen, but several teams have spoken to the Sharks, including the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.
