NHL trade rumours: Could Miller to Philly work?

A summary of the latest trade buzz kicking around the National Hockey League, currently being fueled by desperate teams like the Oilers, Panthers, Flyers and Sabres — all performing under expectations and looking to reverse their fate.

Oct. 28. The seal has been cracked with the blockbuster trade of Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders for Matt Moulson and a pair of high draft picks. The Buffalo rebuild we’ve been waiting for is underway, and Ryan Miller should be the next domino to fall.

Several analysts were surprised to see the Islanders not make a deal to acquire Miller, with 38-year-old Evgeni Nabokov seeing his save percentage ballooning to a three-season high of 2.82.
Hockey Central insider Doug MacLean suggested the Philadelphia Flyers as a good fit for Miller, who could finally stabilize the team’s crease issues. In order for Philly to make a trade for Miller, however, MacLean believes Miller would need to be willing to sign long-term with the Flyers. It won’t make sense to surrender future assets for a rental.
