This is hard to say but I think the Leafs may have something the Habs want…
Yvon Pedneault confirmed before the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Flyers that Jaroslav Halak asked to be traded. He also mentioned that if Halak is not trade he might go to the Russian Super League and earn approximatively 1 millions to end the year in Russia.

Sportsnet.ca is reporting that Michael Ryder is riding the pine in Montreal.
What to do with Cristobal Huet? Many people say trade him away at the deadline, some say let him go at the end of the season in case we do make a playoff run, some (although few) say get Price starting right NOW.
While all of these people have valid points, I believe that trading Huet will be a gamble no mater what.
Before everyone jumps all over me..listen to what I have to say…According to RDS a couple of days ago..Montreal may be looking at Modano to fill the first line center position we have available. He would be a great fit because we need a first line center.
Early on Montreal could perhaps be called a pleasant surprise. They have looked much better than most people expected, myself included. Here is my analysis of the Habs six game into the season…
If Bob wants Price in the big show for good he’s got to give him the #1 job and bring up Halak for back up. With Lethenon out for Atlanta this is the perfect time to move Huet who has really helped out his value with the way he’s been playing. But I say if we can add more offense then lets go with Price and Halak.
Bruce Garrioch from Slam Sports is reporting that Alex Kovalev is quickly entering into coach Carbonneau’s doghouse.
First post so please don’t destroy me if you don’t agree.
So far the Habs have a 2-2-2 record and that could be worse looking at the teams they have played so far not to mention only 2 home games.
Michail Grabovski has not proved himself as 2nd line center and will probably be sent back to Hamilton shortly. After surviving the the final cut in training camp, he hasn’t been able to contribute any offensive since the start of the season. He’s been demoted to the 3rd line during most of the games he’s started and replaced by Plecanec, who spent most of last season playing with Kovalev. He has shown some interesting speed and skill, but in general he looks totally out of place, rarely able to get in on the play. RDS commentators agree that he shouldn’t be around for much longer.
