RDS.ca: Gainey still shopping
According to RDS.ca (http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/208305.html) this afternoon, Gainey is not done shopping in the free agency. Gainey told the press he was still looking for an offensive player.
Gainey IS still looking!
I found this on CJAD web site TODAY!
Canadiens GM Bob Gainey hasn’t given up on upgrading his team through free agency. Gainey confirming to CJAD’s Abe Hefter that although the Habs lost out on the Brendan Shanahan sweepstakes, he believes there’s talent remaining out there that could help the Canadiens, up front. Gainey, at the Martin Lapointe Arena to watch the prospects take to the ice, says it became pretty clear that unrestricted free agent economics would prevent the Canadiens from signing more than one player.
Petr Sykora??? Show the real link…
Quote: “tsn.ca reports that the rumors circulating between the habs and Petr Sykora are intensifying, and that he might end up being a hab next season. Sykora is a solid 20 goal, 50 point scorer, and he should come in handy as a replacement of the no-longer Montreal Canadien, Jan Bulis.
Rumors are also starting to come up when the name of Sergei Samsonov is mentioned. He would be a perfect fit as a left-winger on that montreal 2nd line, but it seems as though the Detroit Red Wings are also interested.”

TheFourthPeriod report that the Habs are looking for Samsonov along with the Red Wings.

Take it for what it worth…

In Bob We Trust
Now I noticed that the Habs have not done anything yet in the free agency market and I have heard it from the Leafs fans but they don’t understand the Canadiens.

Jacques Plante (1), Doug Harvey (2), Jean Béliveau (4), Howie Morenz (7), Maurice Richard (9), Guy Lafleur (10) and Henri Richard (16) have already be honored.
Speculation around Montreal said that Patrick Roy (33), Larry Robinson (19) are two of the highest possibility of this year.
Personnally, I think that Robinson, Geoffrion (5) and Ken Dryden (?) are the best possibility. The Habs also announce that 3 others players will be honored, one per year onto 2009.
Who do you think will have his number on the top of the hockey’s church ?
Waiting your answer.
