Hockey Trade Rumors

Kostitsyn has been sent back to the minors, which means Garth Murray will probably be back in the lineup with Perezhogin moving back to the 2nd line, Begin back to the 3rd line and Murray landing back on the fourth line.

It appears the Huet has claimed the #1 job in the Habs goal crease. After last nights impressive outing against Atlanta combined with his last four starts he has a save percentage of .931!

According to TSN.ca, Andrei Kostitsyn has been recalled from the Montreal’s AHL team, the Hamilton Bulldogs. If any of you remember the rookie camp of the Habs, the big story was which rookie would crack the lineup: Latendresse or Kostitsyn. While we all now know the outcome of that, both players played extremely well in pre-season (yes, I know they mean nothing) and showed promise of being able to perform in the NHL.

According to RDS.ca, rookie Guillaume Latendresse will be playing in the 1st during the game against the Oilers while Hab’s best scorer so far, Chris Higgins, is injured for the next 6 weeks!

Okay, here we go. Having played hockey for years, and understanding where Carbo is coming from, I think I have something that he should definately try during his line juggling. Firstly, I agree with trying to put some fire under Sammy’s pants, he’s an extremely talented player and riling him up is what we need. In order to get what we want out of him I think we should give him a few games on the first line to bump his confidence back up after being sat for a bit. As far as Gui being put on the second line….it’s about time, this kid has major potential, and I think he’d be a great addition to the top 6 forwards. The power play lines are too standard. I think what we should do is juggle them a bit too. Here’s my opinion of some great lines to try during Carbo’s attempts.

Okay, after tonight I think it’s quite obvious that anyone who says “Souray is not playing good hockey and should be traded,” doesn’t know what the hell they are talking about. I played hockey for years as a defenseman and although I may agree that Souray could use some improving on his defensive game, he’s my personal favorite defenseman on the Habs.

After listening to the CBC documentary on Madano last Saturday, I stongly believe that he may be out of Dallas pretty soon.

Much has been made of the fact over the past few years by fans that Saku Koivu has always had the ability to make the players around him better. But aside from a season or so of with Richard Zednik, Koivu never had unparallelled chemistry as he had with wingers Shayne Corson and Mark Recchi in the late ’90s. In some ways, that was the prototypical line of that era – a power forward to work the corners, a playmaker at centre, and a high scoring winger. Well, until now, that is.

Okay, as it stands now, the accumulated Salary for the Habs is…43 mil 779 thousand. This being said, not much room is left for emergencies. I’m going to stick my head out and say that Gainey will make a trade to free up some cap space by Christmas. Everyone keeps saying that Souray will be traded, I hope not, he may have some inconsistency issues, but he’s a big gun and with the right coaching he’ll be fine.

According to many sources, many fans and many talk, Sheldon Souray is the next to be trade.

Ribeiro and Souray was supposed to be trade for Jack Johnson but Jim Rutherford just decide that the deal with L.A. was better.

Something I realized while responding to a post at another site is that, while the jury is still out on this trade, it give the habs something that any team with great asperations needs: Depth at Defence.

While Carbo ended the night juggling the lines, for the most part he seemed to be using set lines.

GUILLAUME LATENDRESSE

I think it’s obvious that this kid is doing what is required of him to make this team, and he now has another year under his belt. While he put points on the board after being sent back to Drummondville, I think we can all agree that he didn’t have a stellar year(including not getting much playing time for team Canada). This time around, if Gainey sends him back to Junior…he will be without the guy who gets him the puck(Brassard is out for the year).

So clearly, sending him back would be a mistake.

But now, who’s place on the roster will he take???

Many people here in Montreal have been pointing the finger to Perezhogin, but is that really the solution?

I think Gainey’s hand might FINALLY be forced to make a move to clear up a roster space. We need help on defense, and that should be his focus.
