Toronto Maple Leaf News and Rumors

Ponikarovsky out six weeks with shoulder injury

According to NHL official site, The Leafs placed Ponikarovsky on injured reserve with a shoulder dislocation and is expected to be out of the lineup for six weeks. Darryl Boyce was recalled on Thursday to fill the roster spot.

Call me Cliff..

Call me Cliff…

What I’m going to do is write what I believe a shrewd and smart GM would do with what the Leafs have and then draw conclusions.

Where to from here?

This is in no way a rumour, it is more speculation on some of the moves that the Leafs could make from here.

These trades seem realistic to me, but lets not dwell on the trades as much as the potential for similar trades to happen.

Sundin needs to be traded!

Since the leafs have been down falling for the past 3 years, they haven’t made the playoffs once, and doesn’t look like it this year unless a miracle happens, and someone shows up and turns this team right around!

The first good news was that the leafs fired GM ferguson, and signed Fletcher as interim GM until richard peddie finds a new GM.

Ferguson maybe fired, but Fletcher not the answer!

This is my first posting after being a fan of the site for a long time!

I know some of you are saying not another leafs post, but it is not really what you might expect! True, I am a leafs fan, and I am happy to see Ferguson has been fired. However, I have been following the recent developments pertaining to MLSE and the Leafs.

I have noticed that a lot of Leafs fans on here are hailing Fletcher as the new king in Leaf Land but I must disagree. Sure he will make some changes as the new interim GM, but is it really goin to help. The leafs are 3rd last in the NHL and by no means are they gonna make the playoffs this year or the next couple unless for some miracle they make a blockbuster trade which gives them a few first rounders.

Whoever they choose as the new GM before next season is going to have to have some credibility in the NHL.

Won't Get Fooled Again

This time, I’ll pass on the koolaid because I’m not buying this for a second. The mystery of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment remains unresolved and not even Sherlock Holmes or Horatio Caine would be able to figure this one out.

Mr. Fletcher, Passion Please!!

It is so good to hear the news … finally. Although Peddie, Tanenbaum, and the rest of the circus still exist, Mr. Fletcher will have the power required to raise the ship.

Mr. Fletcher, don’t listen to the nimrods trash talking you here in Toronto. These people just need to have their opinions heard to keep their jobs. Listen to the guys at, they know what is going on.

TSN Reports Ferguson is done today.

TSN is reporting that the Leafs brass had a meeting Monday and there will be an announcement today on who will be the new GM. Here is the Link. I heard a rumor today that it will be Doug MacLean as the new GM. If so, do you think he is the right fit for the Leafs?

Leafs give up on Sundin! Armstrong best Leafs Captain Ever!

The wheels have fallen off and this season appears to be gone. Leafs Nation is calling for blood, starting from the top down, or down up, or anything to prove that MLSE wants to win a cup. I agree with my fellow Leafs fans, change is required now, but I must say that I do not agree with people still defending Sundin.

The Plan Did Remain the Same and Came Back to Bite Them

Almost two years ago I wrote the following article.

It is disturbing to me today that I was right all along. By no means am i trying to boast being a hockey expert. On the contrary, I am simply stunned that if the common fan was able to see this demise back in early 2006, how come a bunch of wealthy, smart business men could not?

Will Doug MacLean become the Leafs new full-time GM?

Hey guys, is reporting that the Toronto Maple Leafs are thinking about hiring former Columbus Blue Jackets GM Doug MacLean as their new full-time GM.

Bowman: Maple Leafs turned me down

If the Maple Leafs tailspin calls for the firing of JFJ weren’t bad enough in Toronto, the team’s fans got another punch in the gut from an interview with Scotty Bowman on Saturday night.

Some good news for once

The Leafs are in a position to have a good season in 08-09, but not in the standings.
