Toronto Maple Leaf News and Rumors
I’m fully aware that posts have been made with regards to Bryan McCabe’s poor playing ability, but I felt that tonights loss against the Buffalo Sabres in overtime, really emphasizes the frustration of Leafs fans with this particular player. Game in and game out, one cannot accuse McCabe of being inconsistent; although his consistency is of a negative nature. He continues to be a (-) minus player this season, and has even lost his scoring touch.
I have a very VERY hard time accepting the fact that Toronto (possible the hockey mecca of the world) has honestly one of the WORST GMs in recent history. Lets look at some transactions he has done lately that have boggled a few heads…
This is how Leafs can contend for stanley cup.
First we got to see where is our strength, surprisingly its our defense , where we have so many young talented uprising defenseman ( COLAIACOVO, KRONWALL, WHITE, HARRISON, STRALMAN, and WOZNEWSKI,) so we have to trade KUBINA and MACCABE to free up $10,750,000 salary cap.
Paul Maurice is not cutout to be an NHL coach, and I will explain why he is nothing more then just a minor league coach.
The first 4 games of the 2007-08 season have already described the Maple Leafs plight in a nutshell.
There was some really sad news after the Leafs practice today, because Jason Blake announced his condition.
Anyway you look at it #24 is a totally different defencemen then the one we traded for. The old McCabe would fight hit and was developing into a great defencive defencemen with a huge shot. Now today the only quality he has of those is the big shot. Now the question is how did he get there?
Solid against Ottawa
AM 640 in Toronto is reporting that Vesa Toskala will get the start tonight for the Maple Leafs in their game against the Canadiens.
Andrew Raycroft played in the opener with so-so reviews, as you would expect, and Vesa Toskala made his debut in Ottawa, and played well.
Overall, this was one hell of a game, and I was extremely pleased with the effort the Toronto Maple Leafs put in tonight, both offensively and defensively. The Leafs first line of Antropov, Sundin, and Blake showed chemistry, while the Stajan, Steen, Ponikarovski line also showed some spark.
According to www.sportsnet.ca, Andrew Raycroft will get the nod to start in the home/season opener tonight against cup finalists, The Ottawa Senators.
According to TSN and their sources; which are usually 100% reliable; Off-season acquisition Mark Bell will be reinstated sometime today; meaning that his 15-game suspension will begin counting.
This would mean that Bell is eligible to return on Nov. 6 against Ottawa.
The Leafs have cut goalie Scott Clemmensen, forwards Jiri Tlusty, Tony Salmelainen, Jeremy Williams, Ben Ondrus, Simon Gamache and defenceman Jay Harrison…All but Tlusty MUST clear waivers.
