Toronto Maple Leaf News and Rumors
If you have kept track of the Leafs off-season you will know that they are vastly improved from last year. They improved goaltending and scoring and kept a good blue-line intact. Many would say the Leafs overacheived last year for such a average team when teams with star power and depth like Carolina finished lower. I think that 6th place is a good prediction for the Leafs because injuries will likely show their ugly face once again.
Is there any way JFJ had a good offseason?? Well look at what he did do instead of what he didnt do.
He went out and got a 40 goal scorer which the leafs definitly needed in Jason Blake
He got a better goalie than Raycroft which the fans were begging for in Vesa Toskala
He also got a 3rd/4th liner which has had a couple of 20+ goal seansons in Mark Bell
He even got a replacment backup in Clemmensen which shows in Black and White that Raycroft will be dealt at deadline.
Most Leafs fans right now have been blowing around quite a lot of trade rumors. So I just thought I would conjure up some possible (sensible) trades that John Ferguson Jr. could do (and probably won’t because he’s John Ferguson Jr.)
The leafs might not be the best team in the NHL right now, but the future is looking pretty good. Right now I’m going to show you what tomorrow’s Leafs have in store. (1st being the best)
Leaf fans, I may have found a solution to the latest rumors / problems the Leafs have been dealing with.
The first is this constant notion that Raycroft is going to get traded to LA for Cammalleri. I really don’t think it’s going to happen simply because Cammalleri got a low contract and might not get traded at all now. IF in fact he is on the block, then arises the second issue, competition. Other teams are in on this thing too and I really don’t think Raycroft alone is enough to land us Cammalleri. I said from day one that I wanted to keep Raycroft because he provided the pressure behind Toskala to simulate the situation in San Jose and to have him there just in case Toskala falters or gets injured, both of which are still entirely possible.
I’ve been visiting quite a few sites lately and Cammallari to Toronto seems to picking up some momentum.
Brian McCabe is often critisized for many things. Giveaways, a huge contract, poor defensive play, but his value to a hockey team is greatly underapreciated.
Rather than arguing if the Leafs have a playoff capable team or not, anybody with half-a-mind knows they definitely do as long as they can steer clear of the mass amount of injuries they went through last year. However I would like to go from top to bottom and rate each “guaranteed roster player” out of 10 as for their value towards the team goes….if I slip even once there’s people on this site with nothing better to do than just point out flaws…let’s see them come to life if I slip on a player they disagree on.
Assuming the Leafs make no more major moves, there are 30 players with a decent shot at making the leafs roster in training camp.
There are many trade rumors surrounding the TML lately, and these are the options that they should take
There has been a lot of articles posted as to what the Leafs should do (sorry to all you non Leaf fans who get very angry at the number of Leaf postings that appear) and without any further adu here is my 2 cents.
It has been reported by TSN that former Leafs starting goalie Curtis Joseph ( Cujo) would like to come back to the Leafs, possibly to mentor the younger goalies.
John Ferguson J. announced Wednesday that the leafs have signed Jeremy Williams and Derrik Walser to two year contracts. And Alex Foster to a one year contract.
