According to TSN.ca Denis Hamel has been put on waivers. This guy should be snatched up pretty fast.

The Edmonton Journal suggest that if the Edmonton Oilers were to fall out of playoff contention that star winger Ryan Smyth could be traded. Ryan Smyth who is turning 31 becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer and contract talks are still far apart for both the sides. Ryan Smyth is looking for a long term contract about 5 years and around 5 million a year.

While listening to the radio on a business trip in St. Louis today, I heard an interesting trade rumor.

The host reported talks between STL, MTL and OTT in a three-way trade of struggling players.

Canucks hockey is becoming dramatic; some fans blaming General Manager Nonis. Who is to blame and what could have been done?

Am I the only one pulling the trigger? I think every general manager in the NHL should have an icon representing them. See, I have the gun ready to fire. Why can’t any other general manager have it? Nonetheless, you name a general manager and you can tell me what their icon/image/avatar/ whataveryoucallit they should have. Could be fun. But, more important is the question “why no trades?!”

Tomorrow night the Canucks play the Avalanche who will be intorducing Jordan Leopold in the Colorado jersey. With his presence, that being a top 4 dman, someone is likely to be traded. But who’s going?

The latest out of Montreal say that the Habs are going to make a deal with the Coyotes.  The Habs would be sending David Aebischer, Sergei Samsonov and a second/third round pick to the desert, while the Coyotes would be sending David Leneveu and Ladislav Nagy in return.

The Chicago Blackhawks continue their search for a running mate for Martin Havlat due to the loss of Michael Handzus, reports the Boston Globe.

During Saturday’s tilt against the Kings, Coyotes GM Mike Barnett went on local TV during the 1st intermission and declared that Ed Jovonoski will not be traded for any reason. Barnett also stated that he and Gretz both gave Jovo their personal word that he wasn’t being shopped.

Rumors out of Montreal this week are saying that a trade involving Montreal goaltender David Aebischer and D-man Sheldon Souray is in the making. Some say that a deal will be made with a team located in the south-west of the United-States. Now, this makes sence for a few reasons.
