Moulson, Halak appear most likely to be traded

Ryan Miller and Steve Ott are already gone and the Buffalo Sabres’ fire sale concludes today when the NHL trade deadline hits at 3 p.m.

The Sabres took Tuesday off and will practice today in the Tampa Bay Times Forum in preparation for Thursday night’s game against the Lightning. After practice, several players will be nervously awaiting their fate.

Gaborik could be bait for help on defense

Sources tell The Dispatch, general manager Jarmo Kekalainen is trying to trade Gaborik by today’s 3 p.m. deadline for defensive help after two key injuries.

Gaborik has a limited no-trade clause, but he recently provided the Blue Jackets a list of teams to which he would approve a trade. A source said one of those teams is the Los Angeles Kings, who are in the market for a high-end forward and have had talks with the Blue Jackets regarding Gaborik.

Kesler to Hawks would be a dream deal

It’s understandable why any team within a sniff of a Stanley Cup title would be after Ryan Kesler. Though the Vancouver Canucks centre isn’t quite what he once was, he remains a two-way menace who embodies the type of veteran, rugged player you can envision putting a team over the top.

Ducks, L.A. Kings, could be in mood to deal at trade deadline

Here’s a closer look at the Kings and Ducks going into the deadline:

Kings: Additional scoring to aid their 28th-ranked offense, which averages 2.32 goals per game.

Ducks: A big center or a veteran defenseman to make them even more difficult to play against.
