Problems plaguing the Canucks.

It goes to show that there has been a lot of hype about the Canucks defense and its prospects of at least reaching the playoffs after managing to sign Sami Salo, Kevin Bieksa, and Lucas Kraijeck to extensions as well as signing Aarron Miller to a one year deal. This would leave the Canucks with a solid top 6 of Mitchell, Ohlund, Salo, Bieksa, Krajicek and Miller. A great defensive core, for any team, add to the fact that Luongo is manning the pipes in the rear, most people would think that the Canucks would be a very hard team to score against. However, the Canucks are off to a slow start (5-8-0)(1-6-0 at home “worst in the NHL”) after finishing the season with the best record after Christmas (32-8-6), as well as the best PK in the league. Things aren’t looking to great for the Canucks.

Canucks Claim Weaver

The Vancouver Canucks Claimed Mike Weaver off waivers from the L.A. Kings. Weaver was good for 9 points last season in 38 games with the kings. It is likely this move was made due to the canucks injured players on the backend Edler and Salo

How about this Trade?

Vancouver – Edmonton Proposal

Canucks Still need more offence!!

I would like to see Ryan Kesler get more time to develop. I think he could be a very solid player in the future and being on the 3rd line just won’t help him.  Here is what I would like to see happen to fill out our lines and I think it is realistic as well…

One by One Rating of Each Canucks Roster/Rookie/Callups

I’d just like to say thanks Juicelan for giving me this idea and that it was Juiceman’s idea first.

The Canucks right now have no offense. So, with that in mind I’m going to rate each of our guaranteed roster players up to this point. From this point on please do not read it if you are just going to point out all the flaws I may have made.

What about Anson Carter

So fan’s I just thought I’d ask the one question that has been a burning in my mind for the last 3 weeks: do we bring the Pylon Anson Carter back and hope he can ignite again. Was he liked in the dressing room? Is he a team player? He seemed a bit money hungry but has he humbled. Would the Sedins be better with him back? How much? Please discuss.

Canucks Sign Another Forward

Linden close to re-signinig

Rumor – Vancouver Canucks C Trevor Linden is close to re-signing with the team. Linden had 12 goals and 13 assists with the Canucks last season. The contract will probabaly be the about the same terms as last year’s. A 1 year deal worth around $600,000.

24 Hour Watch

According to Eklund from www.hockeybuzz.com a source told him….

P.S. take this as it is speculation from Eklund

Forsberg to sign with Canucks

Peter Forsberg is expected to sign with Vancouver if the NJ/Van trade falls throught, with over 8 million in cap space and only one hole to fill at Left Wing this could be Elais or Forsberg’s place to fill.

Three More Canucks

According to the Vancouver Canucks website, the team signed 2 forwards Brad Moran and Jason Jaffray from the Manitoba Moose. They also signed free agent Greg Classen from the Hamburg Freezers of the German Hockey League.

Canucks Sign 2

The Vancouver Canucks announced Tuesday that they have Re-Signed Defenseman Lukas Krajicek to a 2-year deal worth 2.2 Million & Signed Goaltender Cory Schneider (their 2004 1st Round Pick) to an Entry Level Contract- terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Not this year, but next year is an option

The Canuck’s don’t have much Cap room. They have no serious needs (they need offensive, but unlike most team’s they’ll be okay with only a 2nd tier player to fix there need), and will only aquire some depth player’s, and one (maybe two, but unlikely) top 6 forward. When the season is over though, Naslund, Morrison, and Cooke all have expiring contract’s, which will give the Canuck’s some breathing room, and possible enough room to acquire a true superstar (if we don’t acquire someone that good, it’s okay too).
