No Good bye for Koivu

So alot of people are saying the Canadiens should trade Koivu this year or next cause he’s not what we need. Well check this out.
After the habs lost in the conference semi final in 1998- 1999 we went threw some hard years missing the playoffs 4 years in a row.In 2001-2002 koivu came to camp not feeling good and shortly discovered that he had cancer. But within the small frame of Koivu holds the heart of a giant , and he was determined to come back to play the same year. April 9th 2002 was a magical night not only an emotional return for Saku but also a 4-3 win over the Senators and a berth in the playoffs for the first time in 4 years. Montreal would beat the first placed Bruins but fall to Carolina. The next year missed the playoffs for the 4 time in five years but now it started to get interesting. 2003-2004 came and the Habs were in the playoff dance again and came back from a 3-1 series deficet to beat the Bruins again, they would then face the lighting but loose in a series that was lop sided. The next year we got the Hurricanes in the first round and Les boys had them on there toes taking the first two games, but after loosing Koivu to a devastating eye injury everything went down hill and the hurricanes took the series. And well last year we all know what happened. Now it was long but finally i get to this year and the years coming. In Montreal Koivu is an icon and if he goes the heart is gone. Were in a great position this year and are heading to the playoffs i say change nothing this year resign Captain K to a 3 year extension and let him bring the team to Glory with the help of Vinny Lecavalier that is coming in the summer of 09-10. It wont be long now that Le Bleu Blanc et Rouge drink from the cup again. GO HABS GO

kinda made it a story i got carried away :p

I agree with everything you said except for the Vinny part. I have to be realistic in saying Montreal has a 1 in 30 shot of getting Vinny and that's still an IF and I mean a huge IF, he even becomes a UFA. I say at year's end give both Koivu and Kovalev a 2-3 year extention so that they can be our veteran presence when we're ready to make a Cup Run.

Koivu because he deserves it and Kovalev because he has that sensational chemistry with Plekanec and Kostitsyn and I dunno about anyone else but I don't want to see that get broken up.

no one is saying to trade Koivu.  he has a no trade clause.  further, koivu's poor peformance and high salary make him untradeable.

people are pointing out that koivu can't score goals at even strength and his plus/minus has not been great so he doesn't belong on the first line.

vinny isn't coming.  and if the team wins the cup, it won't be due to koivu, it will be due to the young players like hainsey, markov, and plekanec .

  3. Kostitsyn says:

Hainsey doesn’t even play for the habs

  4. habsoverserver says:

i mean komisarek.  hainsey is supposed to be playing for them, but gainey did something stupid.

  5. 9 says:

    Vincent Lecavalier WILL come. Period.

  6. ovechkin8 says:

Lecalvier will NEVER come to the habs.PERIOD!!!

Koivu is Montreal's Captian. He will light it up the last 30 games because he wants it bad.

the fact of the matter is, Koivu hasn't been playing good hockey of late, he takes bad penalties at the end of games, and hasn't been scoring much. Fact of the matter is plekanec is a better center right now, so koivu is expendable. Fact of the matter is there are better leaders on this team (komisarek), it is no longer Koivu's mediocre team.  I don't think he'll be traded this season, but he better take his play to the next level, if he can do that this team can really do some damage!  This is probably the best team Koivu has played with, except the finnish teams, he should take advantage of this situation.

He has hinted that he will never go to Montreal.

First of all KOIVU sucks……he always sucked and will always suck..!
I meancome on wake up and smell the coffee…it's been 11 years and he has done nothing for the team. Weve brought great players to play with that ass, and they were never good enough…but everyone has left and has done amazing things in other teams and let koivu stay here and has brought nothing to the ice except failure.!!!!!
I cant believe he has been the CAPTAIN of the canadiens for so long…do ppl have no eyes and see what going on?

Get rid of koivu and the canadiens will win the stanly cup!

He has never had even 75 points…hes been taking the a free ride…andmaking money what a waste of a person! A waste of a space on the ice…!
