No word on Whitney

The biggest piece at the NHL trade deadline is at a standstill.

While Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford wants to move Ray Whitney before the 3 p.m. tomorrow, the club is in a holding pattern.

There is no shortage of interest in Whitney but he still maintains he wants an extension. If it stays that way, he may not be going anywhere.

Teams don’t want to give him a two-year, $7 million deal. Only Los Angeles has been given permission to this point and they failed to get the deal done. Will that stance change? It could. We will be keeping an eye.

Tomas Vokoun could be moved out of Florida. The Flyers would like to get a goalie. I don’t know how they could possibly take on $5 million in salary. It just doesn’t make any sense.

Blues sent out a email offering up Brad Boyes and Carlo Coliacovo.

Wojtek Wolski for Peter Mueller is being discussed.
