9.8 million Left to get:

1 d-man

7 forwards

9.8 million isn’t much comfort room for 8 players, especially if JFJ doesn’t want to go to the cap limit

jfj is the biggest idiot unless he has some kind of plan and enough with the chris pronger rumors jesus 25 million or something on d not going to happen they wont have anybody up front to put the puck in the net unless they figure the d will carry the offence and forwards will play d im at a loss for words

  2. lukeleim says:

i really wish they didnt sign gill… should have went after markov instead.

  3. lukeleim says:

    My completely unrealistic offseason transactions.

Darcy Tucker, Hal Gill & Carlo Colaiacovo to the Florida Panthers for Gary Roberts & Jay Bouwmeester.

Alexei Ponikarovsky, Mikael Tellqvist, Andy Wozniewski & John Pohl to the Calgary Flames for Chuck Kobasew & the Flames’ 2nd-round pick of 2007.

Jeff O’Neill to the Carolina Hurricanes for the Hurricanes’ 5th-round pick of 2007.

Nik Antropov & Karel Pilar to the Nashville Predators for Jordin Tootoo & the Predators’ 3rd-round pick in 2008.

UFA – Sergei Samsonov & Anson Carter

Sergei Samsonov – Mats Sundin – Chuck Kobasew

Gary Roberts – Kyle Wellwood – Anson Carter

Alexander Steen – Matt Stajan – Aleksander Suglobov

Chad Kilger – Eric Lindros – Jordin Tootoo

    ——————————————

Nikolai Kulemin – Jiri Tlusty – Ben Ondrus

    Jeremy Williams

    Robbie Earl

    Tomas Kaberle – Bryan McCabe

    Jay Bouwmeester – Pavel Kubina

    Staffan Kronwall – Ian White

Well this is how the Leafs stand up, assuming they resign some of their free-agents (Wilm, Wellwood, Stajan, Ondrus, Bell, Harrison, White)which should eat up about 3-4 million.

    Steen Sundin _____

    Ponikarovsky _____ O’Neill

    Tucker Stajan Wellwood

    Ondrus Wilm Kilger

    McCabe Kaberle

    Kubina Gill

    Colaiacovo _____

    Raycroft

    Aubin

    So:

Release Belak and the worse of Tellqvist/Aubin…

Sign Jason Allison for say 1.5 million over one year?

Either sign Samsonov for what you have left and let one of the youngesters partner up with Carlo for the 3rd pairing, or else end up trading Tellqvist and a late draft pick (which is all Florida wants) for Roberts and sign the best defenseman left. Roberts would be cheap because if he’s over 37 (i don’t know, he may be) he’s 75% off.

  5. DJTOKid says:

$9.8mil is tons when it comes to signing the guys you mentioned. First Lindros, Wilm and Allison are gone, second the other guys won’t get anymore then $1million a year. So JFJ can probly resign: Antropov, Stajan, Wellwood, Suglodov, Ondrus, Pilar, Colaiacovo, and White for around $6mil give or take $1.5mil. That actually leaves room for jfj to sign a decent forward.

  6. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

honesly, jfj did some messed up signings. Gill has a bad year, leafs give him a 0.5 mil pay raise, kubina has a bad year, leafs give him a 2.5 million dollar pay raise, whats next siging belfour for 8 million! both these guy are long term types, as both have stayed with their old organization for over 8 years.

gill is aki berg in disguise, but kubina should do well (i dont know about 5 million well), but he’ll do fine

  7. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

Nikolai Kulemin our 2nd round pick this year, may make the leafs roster next season, he’s 19 so he’s a bit more mature

  8. Aetherial says:

    1) They have qualified Antropov at 1 million.

    2) Stajan and Wellwood will make another 1 million each.

    3) They can get Lindros cheap; they will

    4) They may go after Roberts, as long as Florida takes back soem salary (either Antropov or Belak)

    5) Colaiacovo and Tellqvist are both up for trade… for picks or minor leaguers.

  9. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

i hope what you’re saying is true but ferguson might pull a ferguson and sign colaiacovo for 2 million

  10. Torleafy says:

Aki’s only problem last season was the fact that he couldn’t clear the traffic in front of the leafs net… take out Aki now step in a 6’7″ 250 D man like Gill.. problem solved! oh yeah.. don’t forget about that stooge Khavonov.. take him out of the picture and bring in Kubina… The Leafs D’men just became one of the best in the league!!! White, Kronwall, and Coliaicovo filling in the remaining spots… Nice!!!

  11. BLUE_AND_WHITE says:

it may be the best, but its also the most expensive!!!
