Odd Man Out – Pt. II

Hey, trade rumors fans.  Yes, as promised, I am going to make further progress on that list of payers on each team who need to be traded.  Again, I’m not going to finish today, but I should get a little further.

Now where did I leave off…

DALLAS

Well, yesterday, I had said that Donald Audette and Jyrki Lumme both needed out, but both have since been traded, so that’s that. By the way, Dallas got fleeced on both deals (yeah!!!). So, I think the next contestant for a new team would have to be defenseman Darryl Sydor. Sydor was horrible in last year’s playoffs against the Blues, but he still has very good trading value, and the Stars are thick with good defensmen, but need to restock their prospect shelves.

Possible trade: Sydor to Anaheim for Keith Carney, Samuel Pahlsson, 4th round pick.

DETROIT

Remember in the 97 playoffs when Darren McCarty, Kris Draper, and Kirk Maltby were so awesome??? Well, all 3 have died down, but most of all, Maltby could use a change of scenery. He still has toughness to spare, and can score goals, but his value has gone down with the Red Wings.

Possible trade: Maltby to Florida for Olli Jokinen, 5th round pick.

EDMONTON

The Oilers have been one of the best teams so far this season, but one player has been a huge disappointment: Marty Reasoner. He was great for the Blues last year in the playoffs, and was a key in the Doug Weight deal, but he has flopped. However, lots of teams could use this guy.

Possible trade: Reasoner to Minnesota for Sebastien Bordeleau, 3rd round pick.

FLORIDA

The Panthers need help on defense, and Olli Jokinen, a center, is not giving them a speck of hope whatsoever. This guy has talent, but he’s more of a wuss than Yammy himself, and not too many teams want him, Florida included. He may flourish on a line with good players.

Possible trade: Jokinen to Pittsburgh for Dan LaCouture, 6th round pick.

LA

The Kings have an excess of goalies, and Stephane Fiset is the odd man out. I’ve said this before, Fiset is still talented enough to be a # 1, but not in LA. The Rangers are in need of a solid backup who can take over if Ricther goes down.

Possible trade: Fiset to NYR for McCarthy, Lefebrve.

Minnesota

Minnesota has a good team with bad players. Let’s face it, no one besides Marian Gaborik, stands out on this team. Some of them might if they were playing elsewhere. This might sound weird, but I think the main guy is Wes Walz. Who??? I’m serious, this guy was fantastic for the Wild last year, scoring beautiful clutch goals, but since they’ve improved so much, Walz has taken a backburner. He won’t get much for the Wild in return, but a new team with good players would do him good.

Possible trade: Walz, 7th round pick to St. Louis for Rich Pilon, 6th round pick.

Yoiks, sorry, that’s all I have time for, but I promise, I’ll be back tomorrow! Have fun!
